I got into the car this morning, turned the wipers on & the drivers side wiper was not there! Thieving bastards.........
Of course, I didn't notice before the sweep so have probably put a dirty great scratch across the screen :(
Happy New Year one & all....
-
Sorry to hear that!
I would say that is most unusual, as vandalism is one thing, but to steal one wiper, with I assume no other damage, is strange.
There are not many of our Omega's on the road, so for an owner of one to find another to steal one wiper...............??!!
Hope you haven't scratched the windscreen as that could be far more costly than replacing the wiper :o :o
-
Stolen or dropped off?
Just a thought.
As Lizzie comments, it is quite unusual (and sad) to steal one wiper.

Someone once pinched the glass out of my drivers side wing mirror (on a mk3 mondeo no less!). Never had a wiper go though. ???
-
I agree it's extremely unusual - never happened before - interestingly, the car wasn't parked outside the house as usual because we had visitors & we only have limited parking so I had parked it round the corner. So, it was on a side street, not directly outside a house in the middle of a well known parking spot for 5 or 6 cars.
Is it possible it fell off? I can't see how it could...

Knowing the town you live in, it doesn't surprise me in the slightest. Plenty of nutters around there. It could be worse though, you could live in Hedingham. :o

The different length of wiper might have meant the other was the incorrect one, maybe?
JDX - sorry to hear, this country is fast becoming a shithole :(

I have liked it here & have not had any previous issues really, although I have heard lots of stories - not sure how many of them are chinese whispers!
Do tell Albs, whats wrong with Hedingham? :o

Thanks, it's not the end of the world of course but in general I don't think things are going in the right direction.
When times get tougher, people resort to all manner of things much more serious than a wiper blade - no police presence on the street anymore, easy to get away with minor stuff I guess...
-
pretty poor stooping to thieving one wiper blade.
-
Yes I agree but people will shoplift a, I don't know....a sweater or something from a store. Is there a difference?

A sweater probably won't remove the rain from your windscreen so well.

Castle or Sible? ;D

Plenty of Loons wanting to kick someones head in in your town at the weekends. Particularly those from up White horse avenue end of town.
Hedingham used to be a sleepy little village 20 or so years ago. Its like the wild west now, with serious problems with drugs, vandalism, burglary etc. etc. Its been heavily infested with chavs at some point. Then there was the local millionare businessman who was shot in his own home by burglars a year or two back.
If you buy your local Gazzette on a Friday, theres usually several "crimes in Hedingham stories in there. ;)

Well I assume you are talking about Essex, so what do you expect! ::) ::) ;D ;D
Only joking (or am I?) as I have many relatives who live there! :y :y :y

OI!

OI!
I don't think Albs was referring to you Ron :y
I have not had any serious trouble here in the last 9 years. I can only speak as I find I guess, which is why I am surprised at the comments received.
You must be right in the thick of it Albs, given your degree of knowledge :-X
Peoples perception of places, towns, is very interesting. A lot of work colleagues, when they ask where do you live & I reply Halstead, time & time again they have said "Oh it's lovely there, a nice part of Essex, much better than where I live"
-
JDX, the "OI!" was directed at Lizzie, not Albs, for her slur on Essex folk. >:(
Ron.
-
Aaah....apologies Ron, I got the insult correct but the wrong person. In that case, apologies to you too Albs & shame on you Lizzie (only joking!)

Ron.
What is it with Essex girls?
They can't all be thick and have loose knicker elastic.

....Yes they can...

Sorry Ron, but my female Essex cousins are so up themselves, always were, that they fill the "Only Way Is Essex" slot exactly!! That is polite compared to what my blunt speaking Eastender Nan used to say about them ;D ;D ;D ;D ;)
I cannot feel sorry for the Essex girl stereotype that exists now in the media and elsewhere. They invited that on themselves by constantly encouraging it every time they appear on the telly or in newspapers and magazines, which I assume they were handsomely paid for! :o :o :o ;D ;D ;D ;)
-
Never seen that programme, so I cannot comment, nor have I met any of the "yo-yo drawers" types that you allude to. Sheltered life? Moi? :(
Ron.

There are two Hedinghams, one is Castle, which used to be quite genteel when i was a lad, a long time ago ;D. The other is Sible which was always a bit of a dump. Don,t think things have changed much over the years. :-\

One of wifeys teachers lives in a posh part of Sheffield. One morning the whole street awoke to find the potted plants missing from their patios. She, personally, lost two bay trees.
They’ll take owt.

Yes but that's up North ;D

Essex. I was based in Colchester for three years, used to go to sunny Clacton most weekends in the summer. Used to visit Chelmsford quite often and had friends in Braintree. I know where I’d rather live. ;D
Although West Mersea was nice and quiet. :-*

Youngest daughter got married in Halstead[it was where son-in-law hailed from]and lived there a short while before moving about a bit depending on where he was posted[he was in the army]it seemed to me a pretty reasonable sort of place whenever I went for a visit.Son-in-law now out of army and they've settled in Braintree, can't comment on the place as I've not yet managed to get for a visit.
-
I drive by Braintree fairly regularly but don't venture into it too often. I much prefer heading the other way: Sudbury is a lovely town & Long Melford is pretty. Good dog walking....
-
My Omega came from Braintree. :)

Take ya tin hat, bit rough night times. But that can be said of a lot of smaller towns now, sadly. :(

I used to work as a field sevice engineer in Braintree two lifetimes ago, visiting peoples' homes.
Some of the houses I had to wipe my feet on the way OUT!

No exactly theft, but Brakkers had a problem a few years ago when every few months, a load (like 100) of cars would get their tyres slashed.
The gang were eventually caught, came down from Birmingham way to do it, but only motive appeared to be pure vandalism.

some peoples cars are like that; a seat cover is necessary to keep the mechanic clean.
Some years ago I collected a convertible with a slashed roof. Some idiot had gone down the street and slashed every roof. As this was the posh part of Faversham, that was nearly every other car. I suspect everybody else in those postcodes wondered why their next years insurance went up so much.

Good friend of mine lives in Halstead - seems like a nice enough place whenever I go through.
-
One of the chaps at work had one full wiper, and one wiper blade pinched. Still haven't found the culprit, apparently checking the CCTV for someone with a wiper in their pocket (or just happy to see them) was too difficult...

Look on the bright side, your pushbike doesn't have windscreen wipers so they can't be nicked. :y Lights and saddle are a different matter. ::) ::) ::)

Its ok much of the time, but there are some serious nutters there (including one prominent local business man who I wouldn't dare mention), and when they come out to play, usually at weekends, things can get pretty wild.
