Title: easy CD and radio code question

I have been without music for yonks following a batterry failure but found my radio and CD codes. The car is a 97 Omega Elite with the bootmounted 6 CD unit.

I switched the ign on held down AS got 10 and four dashes. did the code using first four buttons. Fine Radio and cassette (remember those!)  worked. Flushed with success I hacked about trying to set the CD using roughly same process. Got to 10,9 8 Safe before I realised I was doing something wrong! I have clearly used up two or three lives. I haven't got the radio handbook.

Can anyone tell me what I should be doing?

As an aside there is what I assume is a relay chattering from under the right hand side of the bonnet i.e. in front of the driver for about 15 seconds 5 seconds after putting the ignition on. It doesn't do it when you just start the car. Any ideas what that might be and if it is a sign of yet more troubles to come?

CD is done same way as radio, but using 0 button (right of cassette door) instead of AS...

The CD changer code is different to radio code - you do have this I assume?
