Start by checking every earth connection you can find.

This caught me also, failed test while collecting trailer  :-[

Put temporary bridge into rear brake light feed which worked but replaced it with correct fix (wire bridge) once I knew about it.

And it might be worth your time to take out the other fuses and clean the contacts with a bit of emery.
Pulling the fuses out and in also helps clean the fusebox contacts.

Now you have the battery fixed, investigate why the locks don't work.
Then next time will be much less painful!

If you have a towbar with a caravan charge socket then you can feed in 12V and open the doors.

My locks were so stiff I gave up on them and did this, later found that soaking the key in WD40 and firm pressure back and forth for 15mins opened the doors. Took another 15mins to open the boot, probably never been opened on the key since new!

Crafty, I like it !  :y

Don't know then, book of lies in garage with car, and to lazy to fetch.

Could that be the link wire to enable the brake light feed for the towbar plug?
Someone mentioned it in another thread but I don't know if thats where it goes.

If they come from the same point in the fusebox then you should be able to simply join them together.

However if the two seperate wires are thinner then you need to test they are both connected or one thinner wire will take the full load or both lights, which could get warm.

NB that if you take your brake light from the wire to the plug, then you need to either fit a trailer brake check 'relay' - lives above driver's feet - or short out the terminals ...... or just take your feed from by the tail light.

Ah-Ha, I wondered what was going on.
Arrived to collect hired car trailer and spent and hour fiddling before moving scotch onto tail light feed.
Now I can fit a relay and tidy up the wiring, three generations of scotch blocks, urg  :P

Haynes can be useful, just not for this job, usual lack of helpful pictures.

I seem to have ranted a bit on this one, must still be in pain  :)

And more...

once you have the pack unbolted it won't come out of the gap between the fuel rail and the wiper motor.
If you remove the front two of the thee bolts holding the motor to the wiper framework then it will turn enough on the rear bolt to let the coil pack out. Plasters still required!

And you will need to unbolt and move the plenum still attached in your picture, don't have to remove it but it can make life easier.
