Omega General Help / Re: new custom stainless exhaust

dont want pipes down either side as navigating the fuel tank would be just plain silly.

I had heard that manifolds where stainless.... they certainly look stainless! very shiny silver they are... (Am I right in calling the bit that puts 3 pipes into 1 the manifolds?)

If I need to make new manifolds any advice on design of those? I'm guessing I can get from behind the downpipes back done soon and turn attention to manifolds at a later date if they start to corrode???
Are you sure that it's the manifold that you are looking at and not the heat shields that cover the manifolds?

Omega General Help / Re: Draining the petrol tank

Disposable syphon pump, costs 99p. You could also drill a hole in the tank (using a hand drill of course) as the tank is only plastic.  :y
I know that the car is a writeoff but drilling a hole in the tank does sound a bit excessive.

Omega General Help / Draining the petrol tank

Just a quick question.

What is the easiest and safest way to drain the petrol tank?

I had the misfortune to right my mig off the other day and it still has 20 litres of fuel in it that I could use in the wifes car.  :'(

would be suprised mate tbh. Unless your wobble is actually a knock. Drop links dont affect the stability of the wheels as i understand it. They are there to control body role. Which they still do when worn, they just rattle over bumps when buggered.
Well on a short run around the block it seemed to be OK. I'll have to take it out for a longer run later and see how she goes.

Got some new drop links this week from my local motor factors and just managed to fit them today. The wobbly front end is no more!

Thanks once again for the helpful advice.  :y

I had the same problem and have just had my wishbones done for my MOT and it has cured the problem :y
It has just been through the MOT at Easter and nothing was picked up. I think that I might start with the easy bit and get some new drop links to see if that cures it.  :-/

If not then I will probably move on to the wishbones.

Front brake disks may be on their way out too.  :(

NN
Discs and pads are relatively new with only IIRC around 3K miles on them so I think that I can rule them out.

Omega General Help / Wobbly Front End?
« on: 08 June 2009, 22:00:46 »
Have a bit of a problem with my front end, she seems to shake a bit when light braking, but is fine under hard braking. Also, when at motorway speed the steering wheel vibrates a bit, and when going over bumps/minor pot-holes there seems to be a knocking coming from the front.

Now I think that I know the answer to this in that it is probably the wishbones but could it be anything else?

Omega General Help / Re: Electric Window Problems!

Had to disconnect the battery yesterday in order to replace my dodgy alternator. All went well and is back together and running fine.

My problem now is that the electric windows don't go up or down automatically when the button is pressed, you have to keep the button pressed until they are either down or back up, also, the total closure doesn't appear to be operating so you have to close the windows before locking the car.  :(

Any ideas?

They need re-setting whenever you disconnect the battery. Press & hold the switch when they're at the top for about 4 or 5 secs & you'll hear a click from the motor area. Do it to each window & that's it!  :y

If you have a sunroof that needs re-setting too. Push & hold the switch at closed, tilted & open till all movement stops! It's now re-set!
It's all in the handbook! http://homepage.ntlworld.com/andrew.reynolds983/Manuals/Omega2002Manual.pdf  ;)  ;)  ;)
Cheers Andy, I go and give it a go now!  :y

Is the noise only apparent when on the move or is it there when stationary. I had a similar problem recently but the noise was there when all the time. Replaced the alternator and problem solved!  :y

Omega General Help / Noisey Alternator
« on: 17 May 2009, 19:33:07 »
My alternator on my mig is making a whirring noise. It is still working fine but it is starting to get to me. I'm sure that I saw a how to guide on here not so long ago about this but can't seem to find it now, the only one I can find is the one in the how 2 section by Mark DTM. Does anyone have a link to it or know where I can find it?

Omega General Help / self Levelling Headlight Sensor
« on: 17 May 2009, 15:00:13 »
I have the fault message on the dash display 'Low Beam Fld / Vision', which has been there since I had the car and was there for some time with my dad who was the previous owner.

Now I know that this is a problem with the sensors and motors for the self levelling headlights that are located at the front and rear of the car. I have checked and regreased the front sensor/motor and all seems fine there, but when I checked the rear one the 3 pin connector to the sensor was disconnected, so has probably been like that for years getting all kinds of s**t in both the male and female ends and seems to be past it. Is there an easy fix for this or will I have to replace the whole rear unit?
