There is a strip at the top that hooks into the door, which comes loose 

Silkaflex or gripfill is your best bet

My mk4 astra, I put a white led into the odometer without removing the diffuser and it turned green and wasnt readable anymore.

If you want check out plasma dials if they are still around, look good in the correct colour combination

It may be the loom, my alpine unit looses the rears when I push it back so have to fiddle with it till it works then finally shove it into the dash

Nope 2.0l had vented fronts, possibly the carlton  8v with solid

+1 on checking the sliding pins, my fronts before I put v6 calipers on had black sticky gunk on the pins, which stopped them from working properly

The tweeter will be blown, but easy to replace

the rears how ever could be faded out in the  sound settings.

Air filter has 3-4 clips depending on ifthe one closest the wing is still present.
oil filter can be reached upto when under or depending on engine from the front looking down behind the radiator

I think their called spring clips
There is an FAQ on the rear brake fitting kits, has the part numbers for the vented calipers
