Omega General Help / driver electric window not working
« on: 08 November 2014, 16:48:30 »
Hi folks

Driver electric window has stopped working. All the others are working fine. Have wiggled the wiring going into the door as I have read these can break. So I guess faulty switch or motor?

Omega General Help / Cam belt locking tool for 3.2V6
« on: 25 October 2014, 08:57:40 »
Thinking I should probably get around to changing the belt. Does anyone have the tool that I could borrow for a deposit and postage?

I took my car to ATS to have a recharge and antibac bomb with an amazon voucher I had. They called to let me know that there is a leak at the above position. They are going to give me a price for having this section of pipe repaired. However, I was just wondering if this might be something I could possibly do myself?

Hi folks

Nasty grating noise the other day was a rear pad down to the metal. In fact that pad was the only one doing the braking by the look of it as the other side seemed to have got stuck. It was a real job getting the old pads out, if fact I had to destroy them. Put some new discs on (Pagid) but when I tried to put the new (Pagid) pads in they just wouldn't go. The bottom of the caliper was quite badly corroded but I had to file down beyond clean metal top and bottom to get the pads to go in nicely. I am thinking this is why the old pads where so hard to get out, previous owner had forced them in?
Anybody else had these kind of issues? The pagid pads seemed to be exactly the same size as the old ones.
Only one side done at the moment. More filing to do the other side tonight I guess.

Thanks

Omega General Help / Wobbly steering
« on: 05 July 2014, 07:50:25 »
Hi folks

Have noticed the steering is getting a bit wobbly at times. It doesn't seem to be a speed related issue. I'm thinking it's probably the wishbones from what I have read on the forum. Is there any way to test or view whether this is the problem?
Also if this is the case and I attempt the change myself is there other parts I should renew whilst I'm there?

Thanks

Omega General Help / LPG servicing
« on: 28 January 2014, 06:55:36 »
Hi folks

Time to get the above done. Quoted 60 quid by profess gas near Merthr who fitted the system a couple of years ago. Only prob is that they are about 30 miles away.

Just wondering tho. Is this something I could do myself? Guess that apart from checking hoses only real job is changing the filter?

Stag system fitted.

Omega General Help / key fobs
« on: 16 January 2014, 21:13:59 »
Hi all

I have a problem with my key fob. Only got one key with the car which has always been a bit of a worry. A few months ago the fob stopped working. A new battery didn't fix the problem so am assuming the internal electronics are kaput. I am still able to drive the car. The car will lock with key in the doorlock but on opening the alarm goes off which can then be turned off by turning the ignition on.
I would like to get back to 2 keys with remote opening/closing and alarming (factory fitted).
What is the cheapest way of achieving this? I cannot send the key through the post as I need it to drive the car

Thanks

Omega General Help / V6 crankcase breather cleaning
« on: 05 January 2014, 08:09:22 »
Was hoping to do this using the Maintenance guide. However, ordered the necessary seals from Vauxhallworldparts.com and got a phonecall saying that part 90500983 o ring has gone up from about £1 to over £30 due to Vauxhall changing the part number! Anyone know where I can get the £1 seals. Not sure if I need 2 or 4. Mines a 3.2 2002. Alternatively can I carry out the overhaul and reuse the old seals?

Omega General Help / Water under front passenger mat
« on: 23 December 2013, 15:54:57 »
Just noticed the above with the carpet sopping wet. Can't see any obvious holes underneath the car. Anyone else had this? I wondered why the car misted up so quickly.

Omega General Help / Tech 2 in Wales SA19
« on: 23 November 2013, 06:51:17 »
Hi everyone

Just wondering about the above. A while ago I had a very low charged battery. I tried to start the car to no avail and as a bonus the display on the dash changed to German! I understand I need Tech 2 to put back to English. Don't really want to pay the stealers in Carmarthen to do it.

Cheers

Hi folks

I have been following the maintenance guide for this job and have hit an issue. I have removed the 4 bolts that hold the rear of the subframe to the floorpan. The guide then says to slowly lower the jack but for some reason the diff will not lower in order to enable the springs to be removed. It just remains up by the floorpan.

Anybody got any advice as to how I can get the diff to lower? Am I missing something in the guide?

Hi folks. Bit of a dilemma regarding the above. :-\
ATS say they do 4 wheel tracking but will I have upset the rear geometry when I have only worked on the front?
I have a half price wheel alignment voucher for National tyres. I have read on this forum that one branch where unaware of the camber adjustment and I think they can only align the fronts?
Want to save some money if possible by going to National tyres and of course I would check that they will do the camber before getting them to start.

Omega General Help / removing drop link to change spring
« on: 09 August 2013, 17:28:24 »
Hi all

Just had a hell of a job getting the top bolt of the drop link off. The problem was that the bolt was rotating as I tried to undo the nut. Should it be doing this? Managed to remove by getting some plumbers pliers around the metal by the rubber grommet but am concerned I wont be able to get it all back together.

Omega General Help / Ebay exhaust for 3.2v6 estate year 2002
« on: 12 June 2013, 07:40:22 »
Hi folks

Need a new rear box and 2 middle sections for my miggy. Ebay sellers in Poland are doing these items for under £100 whereas the local National Tyres want about £300 after discounts. National Tyres have said they will fit the ones from Poland for £30 but have warned that I should make sure they are either OE or type approved or the car will fail its next MOT. Anyone had any experience with this?

Cheers

Omega General Help / Reinstalling original front springs
« on: 20 February 2013, 21:19:53 »
My omega has had Irmscher springs installed prior to purchase which lowered the front. Unfortunately, the car grounds out coming over the lip of the drive to our house. I have the original springs. Is there a how to to change over these springs? Previous owner said the headlight levelling sensors had to be put on stalks as they wouldn't work otherwise. Anyone know anything about these? Hopefully I can just do away with the stalks and reinstall.

Cheers all
