CD exchange
« on: 23 November 2012, 13:17:50 »

Hi, will a Ford 6000 cd RDS fit in the hole to replace my existing stereo (CDR2005) with the correct iso cable? If not is there any of the newer units from the vauxhall range which will just slide in (plug and play)? Thanks.

Any double (or single even) DIN unit will fit in the hole with the correct fascia plate.

I would imagine it would plug in and "work" in terms of giving you radio/CD, but it won't give the output on the display  :y

Ford 6000CD is not actually a Double DIN - nearly, but not quite, so you would have quite a gap there !!

And the Omega (and some other GM cars) need a facia adapter, as the HU isn't oblong, but trapezoid.

All immaterial really.

Vauxhall CDR2005 is a fairly standard head unit that will never set the world alight.

Ford 6000 CD is the equivalent spec in the Ford world - ie: its basic.

So why on earth would you go to all that trouble to end up with the most basic stereo from another car? If you want basic, find yourself another CDR2005 - hassle converting to Ford isn`t worth it, and your cash would be better spent towards an aftermarket upgrade instead.
