F1 on the PS3
« on: 18 April 2013, 15:40:52 »

Just started playing the 2010 version. Anyone else got this?
Seems pretty realistic.
Been told the 2011 and 12 versions are a lot harder but 7 races into my 1st season and I'm finding the going tough!
Best I've managed to finish is 16th, start every race in. 24th because the car is crap and my qualifying times are rubbish.
Enjoying it so far though  :y

I play 2012 on Xbox and its a cracking game really realistic, even down to if you go off racing line your into wall(or is that just me ;D)

Although if you drive too aggressive you get penaltys galore  :)

I haven't looked at changing downforce, brake balance and all that kinda thing... Mainly because I haven't a clue what half of it means and what tracks to change the cars set up for the best. :-[

Have a look online at some of the forums, there are a few that players have submitted diffrent set ups for diffrent tracks and cars, wet and dry set ups to.

Try this site it's the one I go on for 2012 set ups and find I can get a few seconds a lap less with most. Hope this helps

F1 2010 - Handling was quite snappy, but in my opinion the most realistic.  Race off line, scrub your tyres too quickly, touch another car - instant catastrophic crashes :)
F1 2011 - It was smoothed out A LOT to make it more accessible to a wider audience
F1 2012 - A much better balance between the two.

Only way to really appreciate that handling in these games is to invest in a wheel and pedals though.

(PS3 better than Xbox due to the wheels you can plug in!)

Yeah I've looked into the steering wheels, the one seems to have the best reviews is the one that came with GT5, logitech I think it is.
Trouble is the price, Argos want £100 and eBay isn't much better. Swmbo would go ballistic if I told her I'd spent that on a wheel  ;D
Car boot sales probably my best option, until then I'll bash on with the joypad  :(
