Wanted: Child seat transponder
« on: 28 August 2011, 22:44:26 »

I'd like to be able to put my child seat in the front passenger seat of my Omega, but I'll be breaked if I'm paying the crazy money Vxl want for a child seat with the passanger air-bag disabling transponder.

Just wondered if anyone had a transponder lying around that they don't need, or knows of another way to get around the system...  :-/

TIA  :y

How old is your child?? Tbh...why put him/her in the front seat??

I'm not particularly sure bodging something to do with the cars safety system is a good idea from an insurance point of view...or even your child's safety point of view...

Not at all interested in doing anything that will put into question my child's safety or my insurance! This is why I'm looking to get hold of a transponder rather instead of unplugging the airbag!

The way I understand it. The transponder is built into the child's car seat, and disables only the passenger airbag whilst the seat is in position, while still keeping the rest of the srs systems active.

I don't want to buy a Vauxhall child seat because 1, they are rediculously expensive and 2, there are better seats on the market. I do, however, like the idea of this function which is why I'd be interested if anyone has a transponder or a complete seat knocking about that I could have a place with...

Hopefully this clears up my intentions.  :y

If its built into the seat I think my passenger seat will have one.Dont think the seat is nice enough to go into your estate though James, and the heat doesnt work on the seat either.

Thanks Albs, but the passenger seat in my car already has the system built into it. It's the transponder in the actual child seat that I need.  :y
