Hi all from a Newbie
« on: 30 December 2007, 17:03:19 »

Hello.
I'm Pete, iv'e just registered on this forum.
I take delivery of my Black 02 Diesel Omega on weds.
I'm moving from my Diesel Rover 800, which i was strugling to buy bits for.
A guy on the 800 forum has took her of my hands & i shall be very sorry to see her go, but the Diesel pump ticking was the last straw.
I'm hoping learn & hopefuly pass on a little knowledge.
Is there any thing i should keep an eye on with my Omega?
Thankyou. Pete

Welcome to the site :)

Being 02 plate, presumably its the 2.2DTi

Not sure what engine the Rover 800 had, was it the Rover 2.0 diesel (decent engine in its time), or the 2.5D (know nothing about it)?

Either way, you will undoubtedly find the Omega a much more comfortable drive, and much better handling.  I know 800s have a bit of a following, and some people are passionate about them, but it really was not one of Rover's best models.  I've had loads of Rover's and Austen Rovers, and always fancied an 800, until I started test driving them with a view to buying one. They were all so poor, I bought an Omega instead!
