A Word From The Wise Ones Please
« on: 13 October 2006, 20:11:55 »

Hi there , Just a quick question from the wise and experienced among us (so not me then ;)).

As a preventative measure how often would you guys recommend cleaning the breathers ? Did mine 5/6 months ago so no leaks  :ybut I don't realy want to have to go to the trouble of changing the rocker gaskets again  >:(.

Did an oil change today but didn't have time to whip the plennum off and have a look and my spare time is gonna be filled with fitting bathroom next couple of weeks . But if you guys think its getting desperate I'll make the time some how :-/.

personally..oil change every 6000miles or 6 monthly although some do it every 3000miles.

Breathers and all the gubbings can never be to clean so as often as you want/can  :)

I would say as often as you wash it but if your AA thats every third day and if your me thats once a year  :o

I do the oil every 5K or 6 months and the breathers every 20K or two years.

I do oil as soon as it starts to turn darker (3 - 4k).  I do breathers whenever scuttle off for any reason...

very regular oil changes should help reduce build up in breathers...

I'd say it will depend on your driving habits.

My car does lots of long journeys (and has regular oil changes) and the breathers don't seem to get blocked.

If you do short journeys the I suspect the breathers will block quickly due to the gradual mayonaising the Omegas seem to produce.

Nearly all M-way and A roads jason so got that on my side  8-). Don't have any problems with the car , just wanted to avoid blowing the new rocker cover seals , don't fancy doing them again if I don't need to :y.

Remove the little clip that wraps itself around the bobble.

The bobble can be pulled off at 90 degrees to the plenum (towards the drivers side front wheel), perhaps with the help of a small screwdriver.
