Remote Central Locking
« on: 03 December 2008, 10:46:22 »

Hi all,

Right, the fob on my new '95 Omega Elite doesnt work the central locking. Its a round black fob with a main big button, and a tiny tiny thin button on the side. Both buttons activate the red LED. There appears to be a white LED, like a torch thing as well. Neither button activates the torch.

Occasionally, if I press the buttons the alarm system LED comes on in the car. I'm told it used to work, has anyone got any ideas? I dont have a manual.

S,

Sounds to me like it's an Infra Red type keyfob like mine, in which case the white led/bulb looking thing is the Infra Red emitter which needs to point in the general direction of the receiver which is the little black dome near the sunroof controls.

If it's anything like mine you almost have to fall over the car before it will unlock! Mine will work from the front doors right round to the back window (an estate) but won't work very well from the front, whether this is normal or not I don't know but Infra Red will not work very far away like the later radio type keyfobs will. Hope this helps.

Hi,

OK thanks. Could it just need a big battery? What do the two different buttons do?

Thanks,

Scott
