Is there a way to get the cartridge out without it being switched on?

sorry to drag up an old thread, I have the same set up, it has been working fine (apart from the magazine used to pop up whenever it felt like it and sometimes it wouldnt read disks unless re-loaded) but now it wont play and it wont eject the magazine! the fuse is ok (the green light on the eject button lights up when i press it) I have taken the head unit out and all connections seem ok. Any ideas?

If it is nackered, i am willing to replace the head unit, and/or changer, i would like to keep a changer in the boot, i went to halfruads to see if i can simply get a new changer and some sort of adaptor for the wiring that is already there, but he said I will need to go to vaux dealer  >:(

if i replace the head unit can i still keep the info on the dash display?
And if i change the head unit, can i use a new changer with the existing wiring that is there? I would like to keep a changer if possible, but dont want to start pulling trim apart if i need to renew the cable for it!
any help, ideas or suggestions much apprieciated.

Evenin all, just to let you all know that I have sorted my changer out. It was the fuse inside the changer, replaced it and now works fine.

Thanks for all the advise.

Right have checked the fuse box under the steering wheel No 4 is for the CD changer, NO FUSE. The cable for the cd changer is all there from the changer and connected. The changer is phillips and the radio is phillips as well. The stero is the SC 804 CD and the changer is the DC012. Is the radio compatible with this cd changer?
hi silly question but when you say no fuse, is it just missing or are the terminals not present? have a look inside and you will see 2 silver connectors on each side, if it has these then shove a fuse in and see what happens, if not but you have the wiring loom fitted, then the fuse is likely to be in the changer itself, on most its just a bolt you have to undo, take out the unit and look where the cable plugs in, should be about 10amp or something i think. failing that just get a multimeter and check for voltage present on one of the loom pins, it should be a live feed at all times.

let us know what happens..
