Disconnect the Battery again, reconnect with the Bonnect switch down and recycle lock up / open afew times with your remote.

Some later cars do have the switch on the driver's side.  :-/

mine is on the other side. unfortunately that didn't work. I'm assuming that the power sounder batteries are knackered. Mine has the soldered in type. is it worth trying to source new ones, or do I look for some elsewhere?
Any suggestions out there?
Other than this, the car is running absolutely fine  :-?

If you were to just uplug your power sounder & put it at the back of a garage drawer till its batteries have given up, your car would just be added to the list of all the other Omegas that have had the same done to it!  :y   :y  :y

sounds like a plan then! thanks for all help/advice given  ;D
I think I'll be back in touch sooner rather than later - couple of other issues have materialised, but I'll get the fault codes first.......
