MoT - Lights
« on: 31 July 2009, 09:55:21 »

Hi guys, had "the great white" in for an MoT yesterday, (i have a wee deal going, in that i put it in, they MoT it, & just tell me what needs doing) I knew the exhaust needed replacing from the cats back - done, & they've decided the brake lines need replacing. Pretty fair really as it hasn't been properly used recently, due to my being out of the country a lot.
However, they have pointed out an issue with my xenons (standard police fit). The level is fine, & suddenly started to move up & down, & repeated this a few times. I must admit I haven't really noticed this, although as I write this, I do recall the level light on the dash flickering on & off every now and then. Does anyone have any ideas what could be the cause of this. Or do I need to get hooked up to a box of tricks to find out what the prob is?
Any help would be very much appreciated!!

it has a dipped beam pic, with arrows pointing up, & down. in the central info display. looked at it in the dark last night, when parked up. the lights are definitely moving up & down on their own!

Well probably looks either thr front or back sensor is playing with the signal. Check them visually

I think I know where the relevant sensors are, but, for the avoidance of doubt, can anyone tell me exactly where they are, and what exactly I'm looking for/what do they look like? As far as I'm aware, there is one at front, on rear, both on same side, and if I remember correctly, they are on the near-side??
Thanks folks

Correct!
A little box of electrickery with a small link arm attaching the box to the wishbone at the front and the radius arm at the rear.  :y

next question - how do I know which one is dodgy? can tech 2 tell me, or is it easy enough to tell? Also, how easy is it to replace?

Tech II is able o tell you which one. They're easy to change although Vx have recently doubled the price to around £100 each!  :-?
