Using the built in phone

How would i go about using my current mobile sim in my miggy?
Is there a special holder for the sim card  to allow it to be used?

I just use a PAYG sim from O2 in the car and divert my mobile to it ;) ;) ;)

But to answer your question, you need a full size sim :y :y

by diverting my mobile to a payg sim would you need to have credit on the payg sim?

As for the full size sim would i be able to get that and use it alongside my original sim using the same number?
If so where can i get one?

I have one where the only requirement is to top up £10/year to keep the number active. The diverted calls from my mobile are within my minutes :y :y

IIRC O2 used to do "Dual SIM" packs... 2 SIM cards, one number :y But I have a funny feeling they can't do that any more :-/ :-/

There is/was a cardboard SIM card holder, but if you tape your SIM to the full size card it was broken out of in the first place, that will do you. It does me & has for years.  :y :y

It needs to be a Vodafone or O2  ;)

Are you sure about that?

It's quite possible to have dual SIM handsets, but you can't have 2 cards with the same number active at the same time, the network would see this as fraud and shut both cards down.

It's quite possible to have dual SIM handsets, but you can't have 2 cards with the same number active at the same time, the network would see this as fraud and shut both cards down.

Yes, they did indeed offer that for a very short while back in the early nineties, when Car Phones and mobiles had large SIM cards inside that were not easily swapped from one to another. I know I had a set from O2 in 1992 but this had been dropped in 1993 as it was found that despite strict instructions, people either did not turn off their portable mobile phone when getting into the car to use the car one instead, or the Missus took the car for a drive and both became activated simultaneously.

Voda Business used to do a multiple SIM, one number offer. Doubt still available.

Must be O2 or Voda, or networks that use their networks (eg, Tesco Mobile, Giffgaff etc - iirc, Asda use Voda?)

Rang them today asking about call diverting and they told me it will cost 12p p/m to divert a call to O2.
Not sure whether it's worth it or if anyone knows of a better way?

I have a friend who works for Voda, & can confirm that Voda don't do more than 1 sim on a number for the reasons listed above- and hasn't heard of any other network doing so despite repeated customer requests

Seem to remember credit card size sim adaptors on fleabay...

Trouble with using 1 sim is the sims and the phones aren't designed for constant sim changing.

Both my iPhone and (now, at last) my Telematics are on Giffgaff (part of Telefonica, thus uses O2 network).

Giffgaff to Giffgaff calls are free, as long as you have topped up in the last 3 months.

The iPhone is topped up monthly (ie, I pay my £10 for 250m, unlimited text, unlimited data), so will always have free Giffgaff-Giffgaff calls, so I've just started diverting that to Telematics.

(The £15 I have on the Telematics PAYG sim will last me at least a year (calls=8p/min))

I guess I will find out soon if forwarded calls are uncluded in the free minutes ;D

I found an interesting way to divert, you can just create a contact and put the #63 i think? at the front of the number. Just "call" it to divert :)

Just save contact as divert on and off, and stick them as a favourite  :)

Trouble with using 1 sim is the sims and the phones aren't designed for constant sim changing.

And of course with the Iphone, you'd need 2 adaptors..... can't see that silly plastic holder putting up with much use as you say

The Giffgaff thing sounds like a result tho  :)

Yes, I have the CK-7W fitted as well, but outgoing calls (without dialling on handset) are a PITA on the gayPhone, as voice dialling on it is appallingly, errr, gay.  Apparently, I do not speak how Mr Jobs would like me to speak.

The telematics is essentially a dedicated, security code protected phone kit that is remote mounted somewhere in the rear of the car, but fully integrates  with and is controlled by the top end stereo systems that often also incorporate sat nav as well.

Glorified phone kit that only works with O2 and Voda !

What Dave DND says above, though fully integrated into the stereo, thus controlled by steering wheel and MID/GID/CID etc.

Works well enough, though Voda/O2 (and associated networks such as Tesco and GiffGaff) only, but a bit of a pain to retrofit, and only supported by the NCDx range of stereos.

CCRT700 (prefacelift) and CCRT200x (facelift) are the same idea (with same limitations around Networks), but the phone unit is actually built in bolted on the back of the stereo

What's all this about Telematics being in the boot.... Who on earth would put the thing in there....  ::)

I have a Pay Upfront for life sim in my telematics, unfortunately the service providers don't supply these simms anymore.... I can't think why!

I have an O2 PAYG sim in the telematics and divert my normal phone to it (so far all forwarded calls have been free) but want the H/F kit because I get annoyed with dialling out on a PAYG when I have plenty of free minutes on my handset! Plus, when abroad the PAYG is horrendously expensive ::)

Also, for some reason, the call forwarding feature on my network doesn't work more than about 5 times in a day, which is a PITA if doing lots of jumping in and out of the car!

My old Winmo 6.5 was pretty good. Not infallible, but still pretyy reliable (unlike the rest of the HTC piece of shite).

But the Apple is appallingly bad, pity as the rest of the phone is very reliable and 'does what it says on the tin'
