Well never let the truth get in the way of a good story, but Nazi uniforms or not, it sounded like a great party!  :y

He wasn't a young man when that came out either!  8)

Not quite that simple. NOTW couldnt prove the Nazi bit beyond all doubt, and he being a clever lawyer had them for breakfast.
Its well known though that as part of his fathers Blackshirts movement in London he took part in fascist marches and distributed leaflets
which told people not to allow black people into their areas as they brought diseases with them when they came into the country.
Probably to be expected when you consider that Hitler was a guest at his parents wedding.
He then reinvented himself as the legal brain behind Ecclestone turning F1 from a sport into the billion dollar circus it became when they took control of it.
More recently he ploughed a lot of his millions into trying to get rid of the free press in Britain, aided by useful idiots like Hugh Grant and Steve Coogan.
An odious character imo, who will be no loss to anyone.  :)

Oh, how could I have forgotten. He was also President of FISA throughout the era when Ferrari and Schumacher were allowed to cheat their way to World championships almost every year.
I reckon someone at Ferarri might have had more on him than the NOTW did.  :)

Carlos Reutemann, Argentinian ex F1 driver, and recently, Senator in the Argentinian Parliament. 79.
He drove for Ferrari, Williams and Lotus.Won 12 Grand Prix, including Monaco.
The thing I most remember him for though was when he was to become Lauda,s team mate at Ferrari. A journalist asked "Niki, do you think Reutemann will be a team mate or a rival ?"

Lauda,s one word answer " neither".  ;D

The photo on Autosport site, paying tribute to Reutemann, speaks volumes about how F1 has changed (very much for the worse imo) over the years.

For the worse in the respect that drivers very rarely burn to death these days?

Not at all. Im all for most of the safety improvements.  :y
The nature of the cars - aerodynamics, electronics etc. etc. and the sterile nature of most of the circuits, plus big business and its billions, have robbed F1 of its soul and most of its excitement.
And every time they change the rules to improve things, they make it worse.
The ultra high level of Professionalism has sterilised it to the point where passionate enthusiasts like Frank Williams wouldnt stand a chance of starting a team now, and really great drivers who drove with passion and the seat of their pants (Gilles Villeneuve, Ronnie Peterson for example) wouldnt be allowed within a mile of an F1 car now.
Both the above btw, were killed in horrible accidents, that they would almost certainly have walked away from in a modern car.
Safety could have been brought into F1 without completely ruining it imo.

F1 suffers from the same problem as any other top-level sport. There is so much money involved that the sport, the bit that brings in the money, moves further and further down the priorities.

F1's particular motor sport problems are that single seater racecars are all so similar, and that it's so fast that there's little point in watching it live. The first problem doesn't just apply to each race, but the classes too. There isn't enough visual difference between each formula to justify watching them. The second is solved by television, and that's where the money comes in.

F1's horrific attitude to safety throughout the 70's should have killed it, not so many drivers. And that is the money at work.

The one thing that was really great about F1 in the 70,s was that most of the teams used exactly the same engine. The Cosworth DFV, which  iirc cost approx. £25,000 each at the time.
Aerodynamics were pretty crude and electronics only went as far as the igntion and injection systems, so good engineers could build a chassis and set up the suspension well. Then employ a quick driver, and have a chance of doing well.
Top teams would spend 2 or 3 million quid a season. Back of the grid teams got by on 1 million.
Ferrari had their own superb V12 or flat 12 engines, as did Alfa, but they were usually crap at building chassis, so it was all very competitive.
Last year Mercedes spent approx. £1 million per day running their team, and there is no room at all for clever, passionate enthusiastic independents.
A great shame imo.
