Both SWMBO & myself have been caught speeding so we are attending a speed awareness course together, I've done one before must be a good 10 years ago both caught on the same camera I was doing 37MPH & wifey 41MPH .
£90 each but no points bargain 😃😄😆

Will be me,  wifey is an excellent driver but I don't like being driven unless I'm tired, she was caught in the old Terracan & I was in the Range Rover I spotted the camera at the last moment & braked  42mph & over you don't get the option of the course so she was lucky.

IIRC, you can't go on the course if you've done one in the last three years. My three years was up in April. Not that I'm planning on getting caught speeding, you understand.

I went to the RNAS Yeovilton museum to get a ticket for Air Day. I pitched up about 9AM on the way to work, and on approaching the entrance steps I was ushered into a downstairs room (the shop is upstairs).

To start with I couldn't work out what was going on, and then it dawned on me when they started asking me for my name and driving license. I played along for a while and then let go with a rant about it all being for money, how most of the people in the room were being done for £100 in nonsense speed limits with no-one hurt and it was all just a scam.

I was quite enjoying myself when the staff instructed me to leave and that I had failed the course, and would now be getting 3 points and a fine. When finally told them my name, surprise surprise it wasn't on the list. Their faces were a picture when I told them I wasn't on the course and I'd only come for an air-day ticket    

Anyway the only thing I learnt that day was that the museum shop doesn't open till 10AM.

Some idiot on my course told everyone that he could go faster because his van had "Turbo brakes" - he was the t**t who kept us back by arguing the toss with the instructors    just shut the fek up and go home sooner

I was making quick progress on swmbo`s Triumph up the Chichester bypass early morning
Noticed a dark colour beemer  bearing down on me & he was hammering it.
Rolled off the throttle & quickly moved over, looked to my right & plod gave me thumbs up
who ever was driving looked totally relaxed as he piled on the power

I learnt on mine that 90% of the attendees really need to retake their test.  And that mobile phones should be banned from any driver under the age of 25, as clearly the temptation to idiot or arsebook is too much.

For most people this is very difficult as you tend to drown when you remove your regulator, hence the sign language.

Agreed that phone useage is a no-no[I totally ignore mine when driving until reaching destination or a "comfort break" halt]problem as ever is with enforcement.Plus manufacturers are busy sticking those stupid screen things to the dash that you have to scroll through to access various functions-surely these are as distracting if not more so?

What's the phone being used for? I still can't see the difference between talking to a passenger & talking to someone somewhere else. Am I allowed to use the factory hands free in my cars?
It's people trying to text while driving and sorting sat navs that are stuck to the screen directly in front on them.

The big difference is that a passenger is aware of what is happening on the road and stops talking when you need to pay more attention.  Someone on the phone doesn't.

Well I guess I have to choose who to believe. 

Should I believe a group of scientists all probably educated to doctoral level who were commissioned by the UK Transport and Road Research Laboratory to do some research and who wrote a peer reviewed report on their findings.

Or should I choose to believe you, who probably has no more that a pass in CSE Woodwork to your name?  Someone who has not read the reports but says they are rubbish.  Someone who cannot enter into a discussion about the subject because he has absolutely no knowledge of the subject and because he lacks the capability to think logically so all he can do is cuss and say clichés (look it up) like "Lies, damned lies & (it's spelled AND) statistics" as though that actually means something.
