cruise control fittment on pre facelift
« on: 09 January 2012, 17:29:03 »

I finally got round to fitting the cruise on my facelive mv6 3.0 today
(followed guide from forum)

fitted the stalk / brake switch (4 pin) with no prob but had trouble fitting the actuator
due to fittement of lpg

I had a man fit it - just under/side of air box and all connected up but
cruise does not work
have check fuse 15 is working as all other electrical items on fuse work

one thing I noticed was that the wiring loom is quite tight/stretched
when connected to actuator

any ideas?

Is that due to the extended plenum in some cases?
Also, does FL need Tech 2 or is that only if DBW?

How would I know which cable length I need? ???

My car has a throttle cable - not drive by wire
So I have fitted pre-face lift cruise

Bowden cable (which actuates the cruise) is not the same as the throttle cable ???

Can I take it that the Bowden cable
Is the cable that comes out of the
Actuator

If so the tension on the cable is about
Was a little slack until I used a cable tie
To reposition cable

Yep. I suggest you doublecheck that the elec. conn. and wiring hasn`t been damaged due to it being overstretched and make sure the Bowden cable inside the casing isn`t being restricted by the fitting of a cable tie

What`s the bowden cable like re; slackness, two different lengths for the V6`s

Is that due to the extended plenum in some cases?
Also, does FL need Tech 2 or is that only if DBW?

Your miggy is the same year and model as mine, and i have retro fitted cruise control..  I had to get the C/C activated(via on board computer) with a Tech 2..  so I think a trip to your local VX garage or maybe someone on here that can do it for you..

Shouldn`t need TechII on a 3.0ltr facelift or not

Unfortuatley they do Rob, on the 3.2, 2.6 and the Diesel already have the C/C activated (the DBW) models..  I made the same mistake, and it was someone on here that told me to get the C/C activated.  it also says on the fitting guides in the maintainence section that a Tech 2 is required.
