Found the failure re coolant leak

Not the HBV but the rather oil cooler cover has a 4mm x 4mm hole in it just by the front banjo bolt.

Is it possible to buy just the cover or perhaps get the hole welded over?

Blimey, that must be one hell of a leak!

....must be a few on here who have a spare cover as the kit comes with one when you do a replacement,

Be warned though....its not un-common for the rear cooler to plate fixing nut to become seized and strip the threads when you remove it resulting in you needing a new cooler as well....

The car dumped nearly all the coolant over City Road in about 10 seconds!!

Finish stripping everthing off tomorrow ready for the weekend when everything goes back together.

I have the DVD re cambelt but any tips on removing and refitting cams?

Or snapping the bolt off, which I did to TB's project  :(

Andy - If you take the oil cooler out, my advice fit new bolts  :y

cant remember if I asked but anyone got a trade card I can use to get cambelt kit and water pump plus other sundries like inlet mainfold seals etc?

On a side note are the gates belt kits and other brand water pumps on e-gay worthwhile?

yup, new banjos, and new seals for coolant bridge.

soz, i chucked my spare plate away about 3 weeks ago...

the original banjo bolts came out fine

So far my shopping list looks:

Oil filter (had to remove old one to loosen oil cooler lines)
Cooler cover
Cooler banjo washers
Coolant bridge banjo washers
Cam cover bolt O-rings
Oil filler O-ring
Inlet manifold seals
Plenum O-rings
Various tubes of sealant
Spark plugs
Antifreeze
Waterpump
Complete cam belt kit

Ready to go are:
3.0 cams
Cam oil seals
cam cover gaskets
Aux drive belt

Egg Credit card people love me :(

They come out fine, but going in can snap. We were lucky on TheBoys project they did'nt got that far in, I was able to get them out again, after having a lamp smashed over my head  ::)

i've fixed that leadlamp now - you head ain't as solid as i thought... ;D

Never known a banjo bolt snap......so no need to replace....

Its not these that strip the cooler threads....its the bigger flat nut that secures the cooler to the plate...

You know what Tunnie is like shearing bolts ;D

Still, I can't blame Tunnie - he hasn't the strength to shear a bolt intentionally.... ;)

Isn't there a stretch on the banjo bolts for the oil cooler? If so and they have been out before they could shear.

I just look at a bolt and it falls to pieces!  :'(

No stretch....there is an angle tighten but, this is to crush the sealing washer...
