Cam cover gaskets
« on: 12 February 2007, 17:04:12 »

Hi all

I have just purchased 4 cam cover gaskets for my 3.0l MV6 and have picked them up and they say that they are for engine code C25XE? Do these gaskets fit the X30XE? :-?

Many Thanks Karl

Take it back, and complain... since when does any engine number with 25 in it fit the 30 generally?

Someone else needs to confirm they deffo won't fit...

Btw who is the parts company so we all know not to use?  :y

Are they genuine gaskets, if so post part number and I will cross reference.  If they are pattern gaskets, I would strongely urge you to consider getting genuine ones - pattern cam cover gaskets do seem to have a very, very high failure rate...

The parts are pattern parts from Unipart I only purchased them there as I cannot really afford the 60 pound that vauxhall want for them at the moment :'( but looks like I may have to any way. I just wanted to get the car going as soon as possible, but if a jobs worth doing then it's worth doing right as the saying goes.

Thanks Karl  :y

The Vx part numbers are in the maintenance guide......how urgently do you need the gaskets....might be able to get some genuine ones cheaper than 60 quid....

Buying pattern parts is a false economy. You'll only end up replacing them in a few months anyway.

I was planning on doing the cam cover gaskets this weekend (weather permitting!) Would Autovaux do these gaskets by any chance?

Not always, but frequently this is the case. In the case of cam cover gaskets, this is defo the case...

Genuine parts are always going to be of a pretty good quality.

I didn't bother buying the gaskets from Autovaux, as I assumed they'd be pattern parts. Might be worth phoning them up and asking though.

Just spoke to Autovaux and they are 14.95 + vat per bank and they are OE gaskets so I think I will order these. Your help has been much appreciated.
