Hi all, the Omega I bought back in March is now back on the road after a lot of new parts and a lot of fixing. I had thought my fixing phase had come to an end and this evening started looking at installing the new head unit I bought.
However, when I had a proper look in the orifice for the head unit I saw a thin metal rod drooping down. I am assuming it is a link for the climate control system. When I went to find where the rod should locate to it came off in my hand and is now free. I have found by feel the location on the passenger side of the dash, but I'm having trouble finding its location on the drivers side. If anyone has an exploded diagram of the CC system I'd be very grateful. Likewise, I'd like to hear from anyone who has tackled this problem before.

Even when doing the plod wiring on my 3.2, I don't recall seeing anything like that anywhere near the radio, let alone above it ???

I found a picture of an Omega with the dash removed and spotted the rod on that, it looks like it should be retained by a clip right of centre in the image.

In that case it looks like you're pulling the dash :'(
It might be possible to gain the access you need to the right hand side from the instrument cluster aperture... :-\
But I wouldn't bank on it.

I'm going to pull the middle out while that seems the easiest. If it came out that way, I must have half a chance of getting it back in! If not, I'll have to start taking the dash apart 😕

If it gets to that stage, it would be foolish not to replace the heater matrix ::)

Well I'm pleased to say it didn't get to that stage. Once I'd got a bit of room, the rod was quite easy to relocate. When I tested the climate control after refitting it, it sems to actuate when the air is sent to the feet.
