my Z19DTH Zafira's engine is shaking a bit, when idling, which is transmitted to the cabin, and is annoying.
It was there before Exhaust fell off, and Clutch leaked and got replaced. Its still there now, and I think its worse.
Following an unrelated noise which has been resolved by the garage who did the clutch (tightening something) they advised engine mounts shot, so Ive added powerflex inserts to them, which has changed the noise, and supported the engine much better. Does seem to transmit the vibration more though.
Following a good look, Ive noticed the below - Injection Quantity Deviation seems to show a possible injector issue

I beleive the 1st 2 arent far enough out to worry about, and I think no4 with the minus figure is the ecu trying to even out from cyl3.
So what to do?
Is some sort of fuel system / injector cleaner worth a shot?
Or should I chuck another one on? Think Ive got one in the spares pile, but no idea on the procedure to change? gather i need to program its number in too?
Or any other ideas?

How many miles has it done ?
Try cleaner but if that doesn't work it might be worth pulling the injectors and getting them ultrasonically cleaned and the pin re ground if you have anybody around there reasonable :-\
-
The inserts won't help NVH any, and whilst they do reinforce the original mounts, if those are shot, then the inserts won't do much...
Renew the mounts and fit the inserts to these and report back.

Might be worth getting a price :-\
My old man did a set on his old 1700 VX diesel Astra van with 155K on because it was running like a sack of shite.
Totally cured it :y

Swap number 3 for the spare I gave you, you need to program the injector code in that is written on top of the injector.
A few things to note, if the copper sealing ring remains in the injector bore than a length of M8 (might be M10) rod screwed into it and pulled/tapped upwards will get it out, clean the bore well and seat well and fit with a new washer.
In theory you need to remove all three injectors to get number three out however, you can remove the fuel feed insert to the adjacent one which will allow removal (it obvious when you try).
Or shop around and fit a set of refurbed, most decent places do a good overhaul for about 40-50 per injector (I think I gave you two goosed ones and a refurbed one from memory so you should be able to get two done if needed)

Cheers. I’ll give it a go. Presume I need a new seal washer?

Pretty standard parts

Cheers. I’ll get some before I start. Presume they will be cheap enough to pick up locally

Any injector place or even a stealer, possibly a factors

Marks memory test....
You gave me 3 injectors...
2 in a Bosch box, 1 is loose, the other in a bag, with white paint on the end of the injector.
1 is in a bag on it own.
which do you recon is the best?
-
Ahhha, and helpfully I have an injector specialist about a mile away who have washers in stock

One is very clean and has part of the markings on the solenoid rubbed out (from memory), this is the recon one.
So the loose one in the bag with paint (I think)

Worth asking them about refurbing the other two?

TBH, if funds allow, i'd refurb all 4.
That way you should be guaranteed a matching fuel flow into the cylinder and if you still have a problem, you know were not to look :y

They clean and test a set of 4 for £85. A refurb is 130 per injector. Less testing fee. Struck me as a little dear. But not sure.
The one that wasn’t in the box is cleaner than the other 2. Has indeed some of the markings rubbed off. And has blue paint on seal nut. So guess that’s the one to use.

Normally around 20 for an injector test so about right, how much are recon injectors from the likes of Euro

Bosch do them for around 150-200 (you can sometimes find them cheaper)

Well swapped the injector over, went ok considering it was a learning exercise.
New on in and programmed, took a bit of starting, and is still rough, went to look at the engine and new injector was sat in a pool of diesel bubbling up, so doesnt look like its sealed :(
No idea why, or if Ive done something wrong, Ill revist tomorrow as rain has stopped play :(
-
Did you get the old injector seal out ok?
-
Yes. Seal remained in but got it out easily a tapered full round file slid in and gripped it no problem.
Carefully fitted new seal to new injector and fitted. Should I have pushed the washer on myself or let the engine do that?
-
injector back out, recleaned everything more throughly, put washer down the well, installed injector. No leaks
Very rough when it started, reading over 5.
quick drive <1 mile, and down to 1, but still a bit rough, will see how it goes for a bit, and maybe even give it the cleaning diesel when I fill up
-
Have you sorted the engine mounts yet?

Dont want to play more than I have to with supressing vibration yet, trying to cure at source first, will then do any replacements needed. Engine can no longer jump around, rear view mirror now clear, not blurred as its not vibrating, thats enough for me at the mo.
Car seems smoother with each little trip so far

The inserts are probably having a negative impact with knackered mounts.
