General Discussion Area / Re: Villa fans
« on: 08 March 2015, 10:02:57 »
As a baggies fan lve been in a rather understandable grump . I had had a bad feeling about the previous game and sure enough the Vile nicked it with a last gasp penalty but they deserved the win ,not least because they seemed to want it more. Foster having a howler obviously helped them. For the cup game, I really thought we would want to prove a point and would get a win. Trouble is we lack pace and width so when we do get chances we need to take them and we missed at least one sitter. Neither team have bad players but then neither is "too good to go down" either. As for the sending offs , I think both were harsh-especially when you look at Hutton's challenge on Berahino in the previous game that gave both a yellow for squaring up to each other rather than punishing Hutton for his malicious high challenge. As for the pitch invasion, well I'm sure most of it was high spirits after 2 wins but Pulis was right to criticize the stewardship which put both fans and players in danger and, of course, it gave the idiots their opportunity for violence. Now I've got to psyche myself up for the ribbing I'm going to get from the Villa fan at work on Monday :(

Failed on pretty standard stuff:corroded brake pipes, brake pads, caliper sticking, both rear suspension component mounting excessive corrosion,
Leak on exhaust (front), emissions fail, parking brake. Individually not so bad but it all adds up plus advisory bits (all around corrosion) means more good money after bad next year. Problem with living by the coast is that sand, salt and water doesn't mix too well with old cars :-\

Did think about that but I'm a bit out of the way for most of you. Been offered about £130 scrap inc free pickup but nothing sorted yet so she is still here if anyone is interested, but, as I said, I'm on the Norfolk coast so could be a journey

Interesting post and entirely believable. The use of the Internet to both influence and monitor others is the great downfall of it, but then that was always the case and the problem of how to balance a system that you wanted to be a free source of sharing information as well as one which cherished freedom of speech versus the issue of policing it to prevent "misuse" was well recognized by its founders. As China, Russia and, of course, the Islamic State, have proven, the internet can be a powerful source of propoganda

having passed the Mot pretty easily last year , this years catalogue of repairs means I really have no option but to scrap her which is more galling because I hadn't long had the cam belt/tensioner done. I've had had her for 7 years though but I guess an S reg with 190k on the clock wasn't going to last much longer and the majority of work is all around age stuff but as soon as you start talking welding you know you're into a money pit . situation. Will be saving the pennies and see if a newer 2.6 comes up somewhere. In the meanwhile, thanks to everyone on here over the years for their help and advice :y

« on: 12 January 2015, 20:25:07 »
Was just checking on the baggies site to see what the latest was on Berahino when this link came up for the Birmingham mail. Following the
Atrocities in Paris, Fox brought in their expert to comment on the problems that Europe faces with Islamic extremism. OK, it is true that certain areas of some of our larger cities do have problems with some Muslims trying to establish areas of Shia law, but to describe our second largest city as 'totally Muslim' and a "no go" area for all Muslims is unreal. The false look of surprise on the typical American anchorwomans face makes the whole thing even better. I'm aware of all the political bias stuff that gets thrown at Fox, but are they really that shit-stirring or are they just really that stupid?

Used to make my own  : beat one egg, strain and add to a tin of condensed milk and small carton of single cream. Add a good tumbler of whiskey (the quality and quantity will determine the taste and strength) and then one teaspoon of instant coffee dissolved in a small quantity of boiled water (again, quality and quantity will determine taste). Once mixed, strain into a bottle, chill and try not to drink it all straight away :y

Havent used the mig for a while and battery has run down but had no chance to charge it over the weekend as I was working. Just came to jump start her and the door wont open with the key. Im sure that in the past when the battery was flat I have still been able to unlock the door manually because I remember the power-sounder going off. Am I being thick? ::) :-[

« on: 29 November 2013, 15:32:23 »
we use 7.5 box vehicles (C1) which we have agency drivers for but although they get sat and sunday premiums, the base rate isnt too good. With our standard 45 footers, 5 yrs ago we had a lot of contract HGV drivers who used to brag about the money they earnt but those days are long gone. Working for a supermarket as an HGV driver isnt so bad either wages or conditions wise but these days there is a lot of talk about them using contractors instead. Depending on the area you live in-Northampton way for eg remains reasonable because of its central location and number of distribution centres-will also affect job opportunites. By DEC next year you will need a CPC qualification whether you do agency work with small box vehicles or HGV.
