Yeah im finding my project harder than i expected but it should be worth it in the end.
Maybe easier to sell the car & buy another a year newer lol :-/

Yes mine is an 1997 elite so is prob why mine does not have the connector in footwell.
I think my head unit originally was an 804, it was quite an old fashoined thing with two big buttons in middle for track up&down.
The relay is white & has its own little bit of loom ????

I am on hold with the install this week as the car needs more important work for its mot :'(
Will get back on with it in next couple of weeks.

i have started to fit the sub & the amp & cd changer.
i have laid out the main loom that these three components plug into which takes me upto the drivers footwell plug. my plug has a different amount of terminals on it.
Anyone any ideas?
i have part of the old car loom that plugs onto the new bose loom ok but there is a load of wires with different plugs & a relay?????
I can sort of read a haynes style wiring diagram but im not sure if the bose system is shown in a haynes manual.
i was hoping the loom would just simply plug into my car at the drivers kick panel. :( :(

Ive figured the back end of the car out. the sub fits in the passenger side rear panel. the amp & cd changer fit in the drivers side rear panel. the loom goes from the changer & amp towards the front of the car & then a few small wires run under the back seat to feed the sub box.
Its just the front end im worried about.
Me & wiring do not really get on but i will try my best. :-/

Thanks for that i will have a closer look at the plug. i have a good long peice of the original car wiring loom that the plug plugs into but it looks quite complicated.
it does have the iso plug that fits into the back of the head unit though so may be able to match the colours of each wire with my loom. :y

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Full Bose sound syste install
« on: 21 July 2009, 00:06:07 »
I have recently bought a full bose system to fit to my 3.0 elite estate.
It comes with head unit,cd auto changer, amplifier, sub woofer box, speakers & wiring loom. Its all marked up with the bose logo.

My concern is over how i wire it into my car.
it came from a 1998/1999 car & i want to put it into my 1997 car but the multi plug near the drivers footwell looks wrong.
I have part of the original car loom from the 1999 car which has the plug for the head unit on etc but i would like some advice before i start. Will this fit my car?
I have heard the system in the old car & was very impressed so i will try my hardest to get it working in my car.
Also i dont have the code for the head unit since the battery was taken off, anyone know the cheapest way to get this or to get it decoded?.

Any help very gratefull

Thanks :D

i got robbed with one of the auction style decoding services by the serial number. they reckon you can get the code by entering your serial number, but i was then told the cdr500 had to be taken to a dealer.
If you decide to upgrade your best off trying to sell the old head unit. you will prob be suprissed how much you get for it without a code. :y
think i got around £40 without the code, ones with codes are usually £60+

Mine did this & it was the speed controller behind the glove box.
Got a second hand one for £10.
Best to remove glove box completely so you can see what your doing though.

10
oh yeah i never thought of that.
yes my car is an elite estate so it has self levelling as standard & it works well so it shouldn't be a problem
cheers :y

nice one. thanks everyone. ive just fit the old adjusters into the xenons without a problem, so i can just use the original adjuster wiring.
yes i will adjust them down a bit, they will hopefully still be 100% better than the old ones.
maybe one day i will get round to fitting the self level kit as im still breaking the newer elite for spare so i can get the sensors etc off that ;D.
thanks again :)

ive fit xenons in my early (1997) omega elite & have managed the wiring ok by using the plugs & short loom from a later car that the lights came out of but the level adjuster wires are totally different due to the xenons normally having self levelling from sensors on the front & rear suspension.
what im wondering is can i fit the level adjusters out of my old standard early lights into the newer xenon lights, thus saving any hassle with the wiring.
i know that it isn't excatly right to have manual adjustment inside the car with xenons but im after an easy fix.
any help will be greatly appreciated  :)

can do it for £20 plus £13 postage.
there is a few marks on it but generally good.
if you let me have your e-mail address i can send you some photos
hope this helps ;)

the cambelt has snapped & i have used the doors, the bose system & the xenons. all other parts are there at the moment.
im going to gradually list items on ebay
just ask if you need anything & i will give you a price.
can post anything upto 25KG 8-)

ive bit the bullet & ive swapped some good bits of the 98 car onto my 97 car. so now ive got a good silver 3.0 elite with leather :) ;D
so if anybody needs any parts i am breaking the 98 car.
its a 2.5v6 elite estate in silver with excellent memory velour interior
