Can the black plastic slats be separated from the "chrome" surround on the grille of a facelift mig?Thinking of replacing slats with mesh inserts if possible.

I am thinking of trying to research the history of my Omega, and would welcome any ideas on how to go about it,or indeed any input from anyone who might actually know the car.First registered 1st March 2000,with the reg W609 OAB[to what part of the country do those letters apply?]within a year it had gained a personal reg, which it lost at a later date and returned to it's original reg. From some old M.O.T. certificates and reciepts I know it spent time in Wolverhampton,Dudley and Leeds. When I bought it I picked it up from just outside Wellingborough.2009 saw it on its 4th registerd owner, and I am now the 8th.The car is a 3.0 Elite with the Traffic Master system fitted but no inbuilt sat nav,and is Graphite 2[that should be read as Roman numerals]Effect in colour. Can anyone help?cheers guys[and gals]

Had a drive in one of those new Nissan Leaf things today.Ugly sort of beggar, eerily quiet though!Little lumpy joystick type affair for selecting which way you want to go,reverse, neutral, forwardand that's it.They say it's got a best range of  200 miles, don't know how slow you have to go to get that far,but it's supposedly limited to 120mph!Even if I got max range I'd still have to stop for a re-charge to visit my daughter in Hampshire.Pop the bonnet and you'll find they've made the motor look like a four pot engine so owners see something that at least looks familiar!Hellishly expensive too! They claim zero emissions, which is true as there are no exhaust fumes, but what of the extra pollution  from  the power stations when everyone plugs their leccy car in for a charge up?I hope they sell by the millions,it'll leave more petrol for my Omega and Jag!!But I'm afraid I won't be a customer.Oh,and the cost of replacement batteries, makes your eyes water!

I'm new to this internet based stuff,so I hope you'll all bear with me here.Do you as a club attend classic[or other] car shows around the country? If so what criteria do you use for eligible cars?I'm asking because Maureen[my partner]and I enjoy attending such things with the Autobahnstormers, whose criteria are that apart from being club eligible the car most be road legal[assuming it's driven there]and clean, and that's it.So as I asked do you have similar?

Omega General Help / stallingv6
« on: 21 July 2012, 18:16:32 »
Since owning my omega 3.0 it has always idled at an indicated 500 revs, however since having the cam cover gaskets changed it stalls at this engine speed!Using the not very scientific method of watching the dashboard clock the engine will run for a maximum of 4 mins at 500 revs and then stall. The engine will restart instantly and then either stall straight away or  idle for up to the 4 min maximum!Tests? so far are to pinch off the pipe going into the front of the idle control valve, this affects the revs during the time the engine is warming up but once at 500 revs it makes no difference.Pulling the pipe from the front of the icv with the engine running produces an inrush of air[so a vacuum is present when all is connected]and the engine stalling immediately. The electrical plug has been removed from the rear of the icv and shows power is getting to it.So am I looking at an icv which is kaput or am I staring down the barrel of something more serious? If I keep the revs at about 650 or so the engine will run for ever and a day,but of course you can't manually alter the idle speed with a screw or anything. The car is a w reg, year 2000 facelift model[in case it makes a difference]

Hello to one and all.Being a complete dunce when it comes to this new fangled technology stuff I hope I'm doing this right,no doubt someone will let me know if I'm not!Anyway just joined the OOF,so a little about myself and cars.I bought my Omega 3 Litre Elite about 5 months ago, this is the 2nd Omega Elite I've had.The first was a 1995 example which I scrapped about 3 years ago,the present car is a "w"reg facelift model.I've been a member of the Autobahnstormers since the late '90'sand so have had Senators or Omegas since that time.I also run a 1995 Jaguar XJ6,but my partner prefers to ride in the big Vauxhalls!Luckily with such vehicles to run I only cover about 5,000miles a year all in,this would increase if attendance at more car shows were to be arranged. That I think is all for now I've probably bored enough of you,but if there's anything else anyone wishes to know just ask!
