Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Re: Headlight Range
« on: 11 January 2023, 12:51:32 »
Well now I am confused................maybe not unusual now given my increasing age!!......but yes I am!

I have removed all four wheels and inspected the area surrounding the suspension struts and arms.  But all I found was as in the following picture (after I had soaked the device with WD40), which was on the suspension arm of the rear offside.  It is nothing like the device I used to find, and once replaced, on previous Omega's.

The arms and joints of this device were all intact and are an improvement on the ones previously seen, although it is still so exposed.

So, what does this change with a 2003 3.2 miggy mean?  What am I missing. Is this one device the issue that must be resolved, or is there another device hidden elsewhere please?

99% of the time it's the front sensor on the wishbone, no the rear one pictured

Diesels need to Euro 6 compliant with all the crap that entails.

Mine isn't but I knew that when I bought it.

Had similar on one of the old DTi's. Smacking one of the Orange under bonnet relays resolved the issue until a new one was fitted. Be worth a check but if relay is clicking it sounds more like a sensor.

Sad times  :'(

I'm fortunate that currently pretty much any trips which encounter ULEZ are for work so I can claim it back. If I need to go to a ULEZ zone for non-work I use the 3.2 Omega which is ULEZ compliant.

Not sure how long that situation will last but hoping when I replace the daily (530D) second hand ULEZ compliant cars will be more affordable.... mind you, I suspect when every motorway is a Smart (Smart Motorways, don't get me started on that b0110cks!!!!) Motorway then the powers that be will have all the ANPR camera's they need to start charging for road use per mile......

RANT OVER LOL

Give me an up to date built in Sat Nav over a phone any day. But hey, if we were all the same it'd be a boring World.
Yes, but it's a) French, b) relatively new, so retrofitting will be a complete nightmare and really expensive. And might not achieve anything.

Hell, a £20 Tom Tom off ebay would be more use from the sound of it...  ;D

Without the specifics of the vehicle, the installed unit and the software version it's impossible to know what might be possible. But yes, take your point about the vehicle being French so who knows!

People who drive with DRL's  in poor visibility not realising that they have no rear lights on. >:(

I reprogrammed mine so that both front and rears are on together*, although I fully agree with what you are saying. Also, people who forget that the Auto Lights sensor doesn’t know when it’s foggy.

*With VagCom you have the option of selecting ‘Scandinavian Mode’, which puts the rear lights on as well.

Did the same on the 530D, think it was the ECE option (European setting)

Well it will be an expensive lesson for the <insert current politically correct term>, not to regularly check oil.  Mind you, wouldnt the red pressure light have come on before the engine fully let go?

If it's anything like the pressure sensor on the 1.2's they tend to fail regularly, often when you pull the electrical connector off the oil starts to drip out!

Cheapest fuel i've seen in recent months is here:-

https://www.darobertsfuels.co.uk/

So if your ever around Whitchurch and need fuel i'd check them out, as long as you don't mind queuing.

Price as of 20/12 were £1.33.9 for Petrol and £158.9 for Diesel

The chinese clones, I found, look bright, but lack illumination after a few months, if that makes sense.

Hence now I stick to the big brands (esp as on the XJ, changing the bulbs is a bumper off job)

In my experience the cheap HID's tend to not strike every time when they are a month or so old so after dabbling with them I've just stuck with Phillips 4800K In the Omega's i've owned / still own.

BMW and Volvo (Both HID) seem fine, not sure if either have been replaced by previous owners or not.

it was caked in mud and salt  :-[
Doesn't that protect the paintwork :P
That rocksalt/sugar beet mix they use is fantastic at getting brake dust off the wheels  :D
I suppose I could say 'Not my car, not my problem', but hey, every car in the family appears to be my problem!!  :-X
