Best mpg from our 2.2
« on: 07 October 2013, 11:04:34 »

Hard to go to Yorkshire over the week end, after the recent topic about mpg I thought I would try to see what the auto estate could achieve, did not exceed any speed limits & used cruise a lot of the time.. 198 miles on 25 litres= 36mpg not bad at all & a very relaxing journey.

Lucky tinker, wish mine did that, especially as mines got sport written on the side and I seem to press the S button every time I drive it.

Yes, know what you mean the 2.2 is my wifes car & usually does very short journeys & does between 16-19mpg around town. So the results on this trip were very pleasing

That was a good result.  The best I have ever managed on my 2.2 auto estate was 37mpg on an early morning run to Colchester keeping just to the speed limit.  The return journey was just over 33mpg but the traffic and temperature had increased by then.  Normally I struggle to get more than 23mpg with mixed driving.
