Which is best way.
« on: 12 February 2015, 21:16:10 »

Taking SWMBO up to Blyth, Northumberland for her first visit to see our son since i moved him up there. When i go in Google maps the
quickest way is A1 then A19. When i drove the van up to move him i went A1 all the way. So lads, which way would you go.?
The trip is early March so perhaps some of the A1 roadworks will be cleared ::). TIA.

Huge roadworks up here on the A1, being updated to motorway status, so A1(M) where it is, then take the A19 much faster road anyway, only possible slow point is over the river Tees if you hit it at rush hour, otherwise clear run to the Tunnel and then on to Blyth........ :y :y

A19 is the way to go, as getting from Newcastle is a right pain in the bum   :( (done it a lot). And Vamps, scenery is nice, but stops when you get near the A174 to Redcar  :(

go up A19 twice a month

Yes, but when you get past that, from Wynyard up, it gets nice again, by passing Sunderland at a safe distance.......... :y :y

And, as summer is coming again, we will be down Knaresborough for lunch, how are your Pork Pies, or should I stick with Taylor's.......... :D :D :D

Sorry your Lordship, even if i could afford a private jet i don,t have a country estate with enough space for the runway
like your good self. So it will be food parcels in the boot of the Miggy and off we will go. Thanks to all for their input. :y

Just got back from Northumberland, had a great trip there and back, Mig behaved impeccably, (780 miles). A19 was a good route, no holdups and few roadworks, unlike A1 at the moment. :y
