Whilst it is possible that your 'new' manual is just one of those freak cars which is just quicker than average, I have always rattled on about how Auto's don't have the same drivable power as a Manual.

On this Forum, people always try to tell me I'm wrong and how it must be my driving at fault.  ;D

To be honest, without driving both, it's impossible to know the truth!  :y
A manual will always be 'generally' quicker, as a good brain will beat electronics any day, and the gearing is closer on the manuals.  There are some speeds that the auto will win out, purely due to the gearing at that particular speed.  Obviously, the manual is more controllable.

Just such a shame that the Omega manual is just such a horrid box ime...

Black mini-facelift manual - my ultimate spec of Omega I reckon.

could only be bettered if it doesn't have a sunroof and doesn't have air-con.

I've found the Omega Getrag gearboxes to be actually quite good, right up until you use them on the track - then they suffer from poor synchro as the oil gets really hot.

just preparing an Omega for a B-W T5 box at the moment - mainly to get the better ratios.
