When they converted ours to LED a few years ago they spent thousands relocating all of the streetlights and told us that the new locations would provide better overall lighting.  :)

Now they turn them off at midnight!  ;D
I know that in Horsham District, the energy savings of the new lights not only paid for the new lights, but also the installation costs.

They do leave them on all night now though as there was a spike in ne'erdowell activity when they were turned off at midnight and it was cheaper to leave them on than pay the extra policing costs ::)

Ne'erdowells? In Horsham? What were they doing, choral singing at 03:00? :)

Drug related petty crime mostly.

Our  estate lights go off at 11.30pm now, used to be midnight but St Edmundsbury council craftily changed it  last year. On the OP subject, went for a great bike ride around the villages east of Bury St Eds. Did over 20 miles and the weather was glorious. Must get a towbar fitted to the Vectra so i can go further afield.

Finally fixed the centre diff on the Kraton RC car, after discovering that the old diff case had a partially loose insert, making shimming pointless.

As the last 5 outings resulted in me carrying it home - and at about 12+ lbs, thats not pretty - I was quietly confident...

...half a battery in, and a tree jumped out in front of it. So I had to carry it home again ;D

Fixed the front suspension, and done 2 batts now, its back to its normal mental self. Happy days. :)

Decided to see how thick the layer of fog was this morning.  Lovely weather once above it :)

The sharp definition between the fog and the clear air above is amazing.

Got up at 07.30 sausage sarnie for breakfast showered & dressed then out with SWMBO and Buddy the Boxer for a 2 hour walk across the farm. Home for coffee & then dropped a bit of shopping to our daughter. Now home pork joint in oven  smells lovely a perfect day.

Seen that effect many, many times when flying ... what can be really odd is seeing the top of a church spire sticking out of the "cloud" when you can't see any of the ground !!

That was the effect I was planning, but the fo layer was too thick sadly, not even the tallest trees were poking through :(

It's odd standing at the bottom of a spire looking down  at the top of the cloud and not being able to see your feet!

It's got a thinner friend next to it now, while it's being refurbished.
