Took pity on the Evoque and inflated the tyres. Found out the passenger side central locking has gone lazy.

Should have stayed inside.

For whatever reason using the heater while going along uses a lot more energy. I suspect it's down to 2 factors. Firstly you have 60+ mph cold air going over the surface of the car, sucking heat away and second the car can defrost itself in 5mins tops (both mine had heated front screens and strong heaters. Meaning they weren't running heat for very long.

Also both mine had heat pumps rather than just blower motors and heaters. I think this makes a substantial difference.

Does that affect the range in any significant way?

Two possible answers Ron, either not at all, because the car is still plugged into the mains and drawers about the same amount as it uses for heating. Or, if not plugged in, it loses a very small amount of range, one mile or (typically) less in my experience.

I've had it on a couple of cars in the past and I've enjoyed it for cold mornings when I CBA don't have time to run the car warm before setting off. By the time the windows have been scraped, bum and hands are toasty warm.

It was also on both EVs that I had, but totally unnecessary IMO, the car warms itself off a phone app/timer before you get in, no need for a hand warmer, or scraping any ice.

When I read some of the posts on the RR forum I'm not surprised these simply aren't the vehicles to "tinker" about on , you need to be prepared to spend at least £700-£1000 pa to keep them up to scratch & certainly don't entrust them to a main dealership.

And the rest! If you don't want to twirl a spanner. That wouldn't keep TB in tyres much less anything else.

You on about crank failures?  That's an issue specific to Land Rover.

So not a jag issue then? How odd.

Did you ever do the HP diesel pump belt on yours? GF wants to chop her Evoque in for a Disco 4 as the boot and rear seats she has now are unacceptably small.

I figure this is a job I'll be lumped with at some point and it Looks like a total nightmare.

Hers doesn't give a countdown, it just says it's low.  So kinda forces you to pull yer finger out as soon as it pops up.  Which reminds me, it popped up a few days ago, but far too cold to piss around with
