y22dtr 2.2dti rough idle, stalling and long cranking
« on: 02 September 2021, 10:48:08 »

Hi guys i have problems 03 omega 2.2dti. :'(
1. The car has rough idle and stalls easily when the egr vacuum solenoid is connected, when disconnected the car has very smooth idle and no stalling.(i have tried swapping solenoid with other one in the car. same part number) Could it be a vacuum leak or should I try cleaning the solenoid?
2. The car wont start with stock glow plug time but when giving like 10 seconds of glow plugs it fires right up. (glow plugs are new)

Sounds ike two completely separate issues.

Apparently those are quite pernickety about vacuum lines. It wouldn't hurt to go through the entire system and replace it... Rubber elbows and plastic pipes :y Also make sure the egr valve is squeaky clean and working...

Glow plug relay might be on its way out or whichever sensor it uses for timing/temperature... As a thought, are the new glow plugs identical to the old ones? Different specs could cause the discrepancy (just like not all spark plugs are equal)

When ill get to the car ill try to clean the solenoid and probably buy a vacuum pump to test the lines.
And i do believe that the glow plugs are the correct ones (last owner had Bosch ones installed)

i just got the hand vacuum pump  :) and checked the egr and vacuum coming to the egr all was fine.
The only problem is that when i checked the egr vacuum solenoid it would not be on and then apply full vacuum and open the egr all the way causing the car to have rough idle and stall. My concern is it a faulty solenoid or something with the ecu controlling it. :-\ :-\
And one more thing i remember having a code P1590 but delphi says unknown code

That code might be caused by me disconnecting the plug but should there be 12v coming to the solenoid because when ignition on i only read 6.8v? Is it variable or there should be constant 12v

Oke so i think i managed to fix the starting problem with op diag special features (Im gonna give it a few days and see if anything changes). And with the stalling and rough idle i managed to fix partially with op diag aswell. It still does it when engine is cold. But its egr related so im just gonna buy a emulator and not worry about it ever again.
