Emmerdale.....is this the one where half the cast are black. ;D

Sounds very rural. ::)

Now now!  If you watched Countryfile you'd know that rural UK teems with people of all colours, creeds and persuasions.  :)

I'm told that the countryside is racist.

Perhaps all the black people live in Emmerdale. ::)
Black and brown and even yellow people live in every town and village everywhere in the uk. Do you not watch the adverts?

Yes.....but I never see any here in carrotcrunching land. Strange that.

I expect if the BBC made  a soap set in Lincolnshire at least 50% of the cast would be 'a variety of 'dusky'  8)
Depends which part. Cleethorpes and Scunny might have a fair proportion.

Predominately white working class. The type who used to vote Labour before the Labour party became embarrassed by them voting for Brexit.
Not many in Barnsley tbh, but that's because they refuse to come here  ;D

Bradford is the place for diversity......oh, hang on, not many white people live there any more.  So not really diverse at all. :)

Mrs is working late so I'm watching Outback Truckers. No people of colour, someone needs to have a word.
Aren't they all various shades of orange?

From the dust...

Black vicar with a black, gay son. Transgender (girl to boy) character. Two bisexual women. An Asian family who keep adding to their number, one of whom is a murderous psychopath. A Scottish man who just appeared one week, they call him 'Mac'. A family of hillbillies who's name seems to crop up in almost every other family.
Very typical of a small Yorkshire village.

That's a lot of box ticking. ;D

Then we have The Larkins. A remake of Darling Buds of May.
Despite being set in rural Kent in the early 50,s quite a percentage of the characters are black or Asian, which I very much doubt has much connection to the reality in that place at that time.
Conversely, last time I watched Eastenders (admittedly a couple of decades ago) the vast majority of the cast were white, which is certainly not the reality in 21st century East end of London.

Diversity and inclusion trumps reality in 2021. :)

If a black fella had ' happened along' in 1950's rural Kent then Pop Larkin would have shot him, and had him mounted him over the mantlepiece. :)

He certainly wouldn't be allowed anywhere near his daughter.

Scunny is very definitely "diverse"....some areas of it more so than others!
