You can't get 95RON E5 - the old 'normal' unleaded.

You can get 97/98/99RON E5 - so called super unleaded. Not all garages sell it though, and it will be more expensive when it is available. Whether the extra cost results in better fuel consumption is very application specific.

E10 is supposedly 10% ethanol whereas E5 is only 5% ethanol.

As for what practical difference this makes I have absolutely no idea.

E5 contains up to 5% ethanol and E10 up to 10% ethanol so can be anywhere from 0% up to the maximum % What they're now calling "protection grade" is supposed to be available for at least 5yrs. the idea is that the more ethanol in fuel means we're using less fossil fuel and more "sustainable" fuel.No-one seems to be taking into account the energy needed to turn the shrubbery into fuel nor the amount of land that will be needed to supply the raw material in the first place.

 E10 is less efficiant than E5 so your MPG will go down
As for becoming self sufficiant, there wont be any farm land left to do this with, with the amount being turned into new housing down here in the Sarf

I agree with Tigger.

Of course it isn't desirable. But there isn't the agricultural land to feed the whole country efficiently and house the 68million people who live here. It's one of the good reasons why the Victorians were very keen on maximising Canada and Australia

I've been using E10 in SWMBOs Subaru since it was available the consumption for short journeys has gone from 22mpg - 26mpg have noticed no difference in performance.
