Omega (Desmond) engine swap

Question for those with more omega knowledge than me (which is most of you).

How much work would there be in swapping the 2.2 engine in an omega b for either a) a 2.0 lump b) a V6. What modules/ ancillaries would need to carry over from the donor in both cases? Also what coding required?

The real snag with this sort of swap isn't the large parts like engine and gearbox, but all the small parts like hoses, brackets etc that are different. The best way of doing this is to do the job with a complete donor car parked next to the recipient and change the parts as you go along.

Right, you need the following:

V6 engine
Engine loom with white and brown plugs.
Gearbox loom with blue plug
Starter/Alternator loom
Engine ecu
Key chips
Transponder ring
Pass card (ideally)
Engine ecu/body harness plug and 6" of tails.( you'll need to repin the Desmond one.)
Instrument cluster to match the engine and body type (rev counter and fuel gauge are different.)
Exhaust and cats.
Possibly also AR35 and V6 diff.

Alternatively...

2.0 16v drop straight in using all the Desmond sensors/loom/throttle. Even the exhaust would bolt up.

2.2 from the Vectrum is a completely different engine so avoid that.

For the work involved fitting a V6 you may as well go LS with a manual box.

The 2.0 16v allows for choices such as the C20LET from the Chavalier turbo.

Thanks for that DG! Looks like a 2.0 16v will be the one then. Should be plentyful and cheap enough to find...

Can you do an LS swap for £500? Or less, if a suitable complete V6 Omega comes up.
