don't get knacklered with sanding it down just get a multi tool (eg a Dremel but much cheaper versions are available) with felt pads/polishing wheel and some Brasso. Should take a few minutes. Same applies for polishing plastic headlight covers.

Thanks pete for putting pics on for me....i did them by hand as there are two coats of plastic stuff on them and i did not want to take the chance of using power tools in case the plastic got burnt..must say they do make my car look far better....the suggestion of doing them by a dremil may be a lot easier and i am all for making life easier.....let me know the results if anyone does them that way,,,,thanks again pete. :y

Ooh, I think that's going to be getting done. Looks much better than the scuffed rubber effect.

Yep it realy is worth the effort,,i did the gear lever surround as well...it makes so much difference and i.m.o. looks great. :y
