My sympathy for Farage has no beginning.
The fact that it's Farage has no relevance.

Sky is reporting that customers will have to be given three months notice of account closure and, provided no wrong doing is suspected, a reason why the account is being closed.

Don't remember any fuss in the press about the accounts I've had closed.

It's about companies not wanting to do buisness with certain customers for whatever reason.  Gobshites who spout off in public with views that don't align with those companies view only have themselves to blame IMV. I'm sure Nige could get a basic bank account - you know no bank card, no credit card, no cheque book, no overdraft - infact I believe Nat West offered him one when the fuss first erupted.

No different to some of us who don't want to do buisness with British Airways, Wetherspoons, eBay, Amazon, Yodel etc.

Most businesses don't hold such power over an individual's ability to live a normal life. It doesn't help that they're a bunch of lying (as proven by Farage's SAR), self interested leeches. If it weren't for the myriad of legislation put in place over these past few years, dirty money would be flowing freely throughout the banking system. In fact, they'd probably be fighting over it.

Really?

So the only people who should be tolerated in society are the people who have views that 'align' with a bank......or with  government indoctrination, if you live in China. :-\

Coutts really need to weed out all their customers who voted for Brexit. Think of it as a form of ethnic cleansing.

Since when did banks become the moral guardians of all that is right and good? :-X

Banks are private buisneses, and free to decide who they want to deal with, and who they don't. Obviously they've decided they don't want Farage, either due to pressure from other (more valued) customers, or some internal management choice.

Coutts won't deal with me either - although in my case it's because I'm skint :-)

I believe Coutts is almost 40% taxpayer owned.

I think it's quite amusing that the exclusive bank catering to the rich, famous and royalty think that they are 'inclusive'!  ;D

Tossers.  ::)

If Coutts held "such power over an individual's ability to live a normal life", and that individual is Farage, then he's an even bigger cretin than I thought. Coutts is a bank for "High Net Worth" customers and rule #1 is don't put all your eggs in one basket.

A bank tried to dick me over about 30 years ago - I went a few pence overdrawn whilst I was out of the country and their T&C's were that for that quarter and the following you had to pay a charge for each cheque you wrote, and every cash withdrwawl. Ever since I've had about 5 accounts with different banks - Currently LLoyds, HSBC, TSB, Nationwide and Halifax. If one of them pisses me off then I open another account somewhere else, and transfer to that account, typically getting a £100 transfer bonus.

What if it were more fundamental, such as healthcare or food.

Say you get unlisted from your local surgery or hospital because you said something about waiting times.

Or say your preferred supermarket is Sainsbury's 10 miles away and you're not permitted to drive there because petrol is evil, forcing you to use the Tesco's at the end of the road even though you vowed never to shop there again after they wrongly accused you of shoplifting 30 years ago because you supported the same football team as the person who was actually shoplifting.

Now, that’s a damn good post imo and even though it seems incredible it’s closer
To the truth that it would seem.
