Covid
« on: 16 January 2022, 11:29:00 »

Yes, again. My missus had covid the week before Christmas, didn't test negative until Christmas Eve. She reckons she caught it from one of the teachers in school that she had spent the whole day with, and had a positive PCR test two days before the missus. This teachers two daughters also tested positive. (God knows how I didn't, for the second time).
Anyhow, this teacher has just phoned the missus to say she won't be in tomorrow as she has tested positive, as has one of her daughters. So that's 3-4 weeks between infections.
My missus thought she was safe after having it so recently but, of course, we don't know which variant she had and whether this teacher had delta now omicron or the other way round. Or if it's omicron twice.
Boris is saying all restrictions will be lifted on 26th, so I'm guessing we'll all just be carrying it around after that.
No arguments for or against anything here, just an observation.

She's not trying to swing the lead a bit, as we used to say in these parts?

No. Despite what the mass media would have us believe, the vast majority of teachers are conscientious and hard working.

I'm not surprised really ,the Omicron strain is very spreadable .
could well have been Delta last time and Omicron this time .

Some people are more susceptible to illness than others, you can reduce the risk in many ways ,Vitamin D supplements etc .

Being a teacher surrounded by snotty nose, germ ridden kids  for 5 days a week can't help .

Whilst the current Vaccines do help reduce serious illness in the vaccinated, they don't stop the spread  ::)

I hope science comes up with a real solution soon and the long term effects of exposure to repeated  variants of covid isn't serious ,there are already "long Covid" sufferers who will be a drain on resources indefinitely  :(

I do hope no one gets seriously ill with the latest bout Uncle Stemo  :)

Our youngest grandson has just tested positive he's 9 years old not seen any of them for a couple of weeks, we were going to pop over today but will give it a miss for a few days, re the 26th we will still not take unnecessary chances the only thing I miss is my daily swim can't be arsed to book sessions via the net, we both walk 4-5 miles every day so fitness is still good.

Is this the same Omicron that was developed to mitigate the effects of the original Chinese Virus.

The study that implied it was from Wuhan iirc. DR Campbell revised its findings in a video I linked to last week  ;)

Aye, I agree.  Unlucky to catch it twice in such a short time, which was what raised my suspicions.

Teaching (school children, at least) is a fairly vocational profession IMHO, but everywhere has bad apples...

60 percent of an infant school local to us are off due to testing positive , seems to be a lot of children  now becoming infected although symptoms are just reported as being " cold like".

Chances are she's been positive since catching it initially.

As long as you don't have the temperature, you can have loss of taste and coughing for a couple of months after.

In which case testing is a waste of time unless you feel unwell.
