Omega General Help / Mystery Sound
« on: 25 March 2014, 12:18:59 »
I have a 2.2 diesel facelift with 95k miles.
Drove it today and there's a loud whirling sound coming from the driver's side as I get between 2500-3000 revs. Does it in each gear.
This problem has appeared suddenly.
Any suggestions?

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / CID Map Display
« on: 05 February 2014, 15:55:19 »
I have finally retro installed a new CID with NCDC2015; the sat nav, radio, full colour display, etc all work.
Sadly, the map function does not work.  When selected, all I get is a black screen with interference; it's not getting any signal.
Could this be a problem with the HU?
Any ideas would be welcome.

Thanks

I'm selling my CID on a popular auction website but it's not going too well. How much do people think they're worth?

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Head Unit Removal
« on: 22 April 2010, 22:40:42 »
Tried removing the NCDC2013 unit using the pins supplied from Halfrauds.

Unfortunately, even with the pins pushed in, the unit would not budge. Anyone got any ideas?

Noticed today that I'm able to take disengage park without applying the footbrake. What might have caused this?

My sunroof wouldn't close - checked fuses, it had blown.

Replaced fuse, sunroof moved but not fully.  Tried to reset it by holding down switch but nowt.  Fuse blown again.

Placed 15amp fuse in just to close it.

What could be wrong?

Omega General Help / Coolant Loss?
« on: 23 January 2008, 14:37:34 »
This morning, I completed a short journey, the CID showed coolant loss.

When I have stopped, I checked and found that the expansion tank was only about 1/3rd full of coolant.

Under the oil cap, I could see a creamy light brown mayonnaise substance :(

There is no oil in the water.

I can see no obvious oil leaks.

Engine runs fine.

Having topped the collant up, it is still losing coolant. I put about 2 litres of water in and it's below 1/3rd again?

A local garage have diagnosed a head gasket problem.  They put some kind of glass cylinder over the coolant opening that put some gas expelled through a dark fluid.  He claimed that - as it changed to a lighter blue colour, that it was a sure sign that H/G was to blame!

Please tell me that he's wrong!!

Thanks for any help guys   :-/

Omega General Help / Air Bag Squib
« on: 16 November 2007, 13:05:57 »
I've had my airbag light on for months so decided to get around to sorting it.

During service this morning, I had the fault read from the ECU; stated squib fault.

Off to stealers and paid £51 for a new squib.  Only a ten minute job fitting it, but airbag light still on  >:(

It may just be that the light needs resetting with Tech2 (Jamie!!!!!)

In past airbag problems that I've sorted, the airbag resetted though.  Do I need to do anything with the squib when fitting it?  There is print on the squib's surface about rotating it 2.5 times to allign the arrows.  But the arrows are already together.  I have broken a previous squib by rotating it so don't want to knacker the new one.

Any ideas?

Omega General Help / Rust on Facelifts?
« on: 13 September 2007, 22:12:21 »
I know the original Omegas seemed to suffer from corrosion on door panels.  Are the facelifts also prone to this?  I seem to recall problems starting when the cars hit six years or so....

My facelift is getting close to this - but so far, no obvious signs....   :P

Omega General Help / Wiper Blade Motor
« on: 30 May 2007, 17:38:48 »
Hi Guys,

I think my wiper motor is on the way out.  The blades seem to sweep across the windscreen much slower than they used to - especially when on intermittent and there's only a little bit of rain.

So - two questions...

1) Is there a guide on here for motor replacement? (have looked but couldn't find) and...
2) Is the motor available on trade club??

Any suggestions appreciated,

Keith

Omega General Help / Emission Light - What's Going On?
« on: 04 April 2007, 22:56:46 »
At TheBoys Cambelt party, I fuelled up at Tesco in Brackley.  Several minutes later, emissions light came on.  Jamie plugged in the Tech2 and managed to reset the light.

Fast forward a few days, supermarket fuel contamination hit the headlines.  But as my light was out, fingers crossed, a NMP (Not My Problem) - or so I hoped.

Steered away from supermarket fuel (Tesco website listed affected petrol stations - but Brackley was not amongst them).

200 miles later, emissions light back on......

When fuel light on, refuelled with BP expensive enhanced fuel (98p per litre stuff).

Drove another 250 miles, topped up with BP standard Unleaded, and light now off again....

What would you guys do in my position?

Omega General Help / V6 Exhaust
« on: 27 February 2007, 11:34:49 »
When I purchased my Meega in January, it had a brand new MOT.  The guy told me that it had to have a complete new exhaust to get it through.  It seems that he only put on a 2.6 exhaust on the car - mines a 3.2.

So the back box only has a single pipe - when it should have twin pipe.  It is twin pipe from engine until it connects to the back box.

Question is, apart from asthetically, will this make any difference?  TheBoy (hope he's reading this) managed to reset the EM light that came on once - it was recording a fault with emissions.  Could this be connected?  I'm wondering whether there could be a build up of pressure that may affect the cat in some way?

Any thoughts would be welcome.....

Omega General Help / Water Pump Replacement
« on: 21 February 2007, 18:53:13 »
My temp needle went unusually high today - but the fan kicked in and - I think all is well.

Seen several people mention water pump replecements so I wondered, when should they be replaced?

My car's done 92k miles or so; as far as I am aware, it has not been changed yet.

Is there any way of knowing if it's on its way out or do you just have to wait for the failure and hope to notice prior to head gasket blowing?

How much does it cost to replace and is there a guide anywhere here (looked but did not find).

Cheers

Omega General Help / Colour Sat Nav Display - Facelift
« on: 12 February 2007, 13:17:51 »
Guys and Girls,

Having at last sourced a sat nav head unit with colour screen that fully functions (except cd player - doh), I can confirm that a colour screen does not need to be 'paired' with the head unit.  The head unit needs to be paired with the ECU - so will need to be placed in delivery mode while in the donor car before removal.  Only then can it be programmed into a new car; that new car will need the car pass with radio/immoboliser codes for Tech2.

I initially purchased a colour screen independently of a head unit.  The screen worked fine but the head unit I got for free was faulty.  I then sourced another head unitwith the colour screen from same donor car - but the first colour screen works fully with the second head unit.

Now I have a colour screen that I no longer need.  It will only work with a NCDC2013 or NCDC2015 on facelift model.  If your car did not have sat nav factory fitted, then this screen will not work without other modifications.  However, if you have sat nav with mono (half screen) and 2013 or 2015, then this screen easily fits into place in your dash giving you the full enhanced colour screen with maps, full trip display, etc.

Incidentally, the Stealers charge £1050 plus VAT for a new one.  I know, because I nearly assaulted the guy who quoted me with a smile on his smug face!!!

Anyway, in part, this is information for anyone wanting to know how easy it is to upgrade.  But secondly, how much should I charge when listing it on Ebay?  I got mine from Germany so expect market prices there to differ from here.

Omega General Help / Air Bag Light
« on: 10 February 2007, 17:55:44 »
Gents,

Had fault with my airbag - airbag light came on - and when I looked, the mechanism behind the actual airbag was screwed (that's my story - not going to mention prising the casing off and having loads of uncoiled ribbon on my lap)!!!

Anyway, replaced this 'faulty' part and put it all back together.

Air bag light still on.  Does the light need resetting by Tech2 (showing for the original fault) or does it mean the replacement is knackered or installed incorrectly?

yours in thickwittery,

xxxxxxx
