I have a 2.2 diesel facelift with 95k miles.
Drove it today and there's a loud whirling sound coming from the driver's side as I get between 2500-3000 revs. Does it in each gear.
This problem has appeared suddenly.
Any suggestions?

Noisey turbo?

If it was 2.5TD I would have said intercooler  :-\

I'd say turbo related, so look for intake leaks if its just started
