Now that the weather is improving is there any interest in a social meet on the outskirts of Swindon.
I was thinking along the lines of a social meet and BBQ - bring your own food.... they do NOT allow cars to be worked on.....
This is a very nice site with things for kids/wives etc to do as well.

Not setting a date yet .. just gauging interest .. if enough is shown I'll contact them and see what dates are available ... I'm guessing a sunday afternoon would suit most folks the best ??

Okay Nige - provisionally stick us down for it, and we'll bring the 'two little fellas' :y
However it'll be date-dependant, chiefly due to work commitments. :-/

Given that there seems to be sufficient interest I'll try and phone tomorrow and see what dates are free, and how much notice they require... etc etc ..
Hopefully more news tomorrow .. :)

OK .. I've spoken to Lydiard and we can have several dates, but due to my committments I'm looking at either Sunday 5 June or Sunday 12 June.... at the moment ....
Now their "charges" are 1/2 day sessions at £25 for up to 15 people, or £40 for up to 40 people .. OR full day at £60 .. :(
Session timings are ... 11:00 - 15:30 or 17:30 - park close.
They require payment in advance and do NOT give refunds ... but MAY (?) allow you to change the date in the event of having to cancel.
I'm happy to pay upfront and collect £1/£1.50 ish a head on the day if thats what folks want ... so could folks indicate preferences
Date : 5 or 12 June
Session : Early, Late, All Day
Numbers planned to attend :
Format would be a social BBQ / picnic / kick around/ talk rubbish/ whatever .. :) but NO WORKING ON CARS... bring your own food (I'll provide the "coals"), ladies & kids welcome, lots of things to do around the park.

Just thought i'd check how late the park is open....the website seems to indicate until 'dusk' which when i did a quick google on sun set times, is about 9pm in june...
Is this correct Nige?

Inclined to agree with Dave's thoughts here Nige ............

How firm is that date? only it's a real pain trying to get time off at short notice.Suppose I can always refer to my book of 24hr tropical ailments for a solution :D :-X ;)

Ok ... seems the 5th June for an "all dayer" (11:00 to dusk) is the most popular.
Before I book this I need a few more to be pretty solid in their intentions as it's £60:00 up front.
To make life easy just let me know how many adults are planned. The £60 will be spread evenly over those .. so the more that commit the cheaper it gets .. :)

Due to the apparent lack of interest.... the BBQ part of this will not occur... no point in booking and paying £60 up front for just 3 cars... is there any interest in just a "meet" in the car park ??? The only food/drink facilities would be the park cafe.

Well, we can run this then as a social meet with no BBQ.. just a meet in the car park, kick a few tyres and perhaps a brew in the cafe ??
Shall we leave it until slightly nearer the date to fix a time .. we might get a better idea of the weather forecast that way ???
No reason for folks not to attend and also enjoy the house/gardens if they so wish.

It's the timing for me that's the biggest issue, as lost next 2 weekends with other stuff going on :-X and also need time to do work to both my omegas before Lakes

I'm in the same boat as TB... It's a bit far to be viable with the other things going on around that time :-X I'll definitely try and come (shifts dependant) later in the year though :y
