It`s not in the fob, it`s in the key left hand side

common for tight arses to sellotape chip to immobiliser ECU, as dealer programming is far more expensive than that in my signature.  I sell myself too cheap ;D ;D ;D but nobody wants me

Your insurance company won't like it either as it basically voids your insurance! It is bypassing an important security feature as far as they are concerned!

Does the key start the car? The fob will work (open the car) without the key blade/chip, but you can't start the car without the chip.. normally.

Well had the column apart yesterday to sort the dash bulbs, no sign of the chip anywhere, to make it clear the car has two keys due to a buggered barrel a while ago. the 3 button fits the door and operates the central locking only, nowt to do with the ignition.

I presumed the chip was to do with the locking as well as the ignition.

No, the chip is for the immobiliser only, the remote is for central locking only. Is the ignition key the same as the door key (I.E. horseshoe type)?
