Omega General Help / Boot Release problem
« on: 04 June 2020, 15:18:05 »
My boot release only works using the key as the dash switch doesn't work.  I tried changing the switch but it's no different.

When I use the key fob and the boot is open, the dash switch stays lit until it's closed again.

I have checked all the fuses under the steering wheel fuse box and all are good from what I can see.

Does anyone have any idea of what could be wrong?

Cheers

Omega General Help / Transmission oil change

I have been wondering about fitting the Omega with some LED DRL as they do help cars to be seen.

On looking I can get the LED tube and put them into the headlamps and wire them in (they only have a live/ground) but I would need to ensure that they dimmed or turned off when the headlights were switched on.  It would be nice to make this happen without using a switch, but not really sure how to do it.  When I fitted a set to my Kuga, there was a live (ACC) a -ve (to the battery) and another +ve wire that connected to the +ve on the dip bulb so maybe that's the way.

Can anyone advise how this could be done?

Cheers

Omega General Help / Auto Box - How many gears
« on: 16 May 2020, 17:46:38 »
Can anyone tell me how many gears the Auto box has in the 2003 2.2 Petrol?

Haynes Manual says 4 but it feels to me like it changes up 4 times so that would be a 5 speed!

Thanks

Omega General Help / More questions - Sorry - Coolant Leak
« on: 10 May 2020, 16:35:46 »
Sorry all, I have more questions...

I did the cambelt/water pump a few weeks ago but I have noticed some small amounts of water (coolant I think) sitting on the plastic under tray.  The coolant level did drop and I topped it up.

There is really not much at all, literally a few drops.

I have checked the water pump and I can't see any pooling in the bottom of the timing cover area but it does look like it might be weeping, there is so little water, it is very hard to tell.

I did the check and took images before removing the old water pump and as far as I can see it is in the same position.

I got the kit from online automotive and whilst I ordered a Gates kit, they sent me a Goodyear belt and a pump from a company I have never heard of.

I'm afraid to leave it with what could be a coolant leak so any advice will be appreciated.

Omega General Help / Front Shock Absorbers
« on: 07 May 2020, 22:11:57 »
Hi everyone.

The front of my car is like a bouncy castle on the road, up and down, up and down, it's like driving a boat.

Tested the bounce on the front and when I push down, it bounces about 3 or 4 times before it settles.

I am guessing shocks, but when looking I am a little confused when trying to source shock absorbers.

When I find them, it always says either "for cars with normal chassis" or "without levelling control"

As I have levelling control with the Xenons, is there a special front shock I need or do I just have normal shocks with a separate sensor?

Any help in finding the correct parts will be appreciated as it will save me cleaning vomit up every trip.

Thank you

« on: 05 May 2020, 22:23:12 »
Can anyone tell me whether there should be a gasket between the manifold and the downpipe with the cat's in it?  I think mine is leaking from that joint but can only find gaskets for the 2.0 Omega and 2.2 Frontera?

Omega General Help / New Xenons - a question
« on: 01 May 2020, 22:53:28 »
I have found that I can get brand new xenon headlights (minus motor, which I assume I just put my existing one on), but they are from a company in Germany (with a .co.uk website).

If I buy them will they be set up to shine the wrong way on dip or is the set up in the adjusters?

Thanks

Having just had the panic of having to find a new headlight, could someone point me to where I could get one of the metal headlight adjusters so I can sort them if/when one breaks?

Thanks

Does anyone have a glovebox (with working handle) and an ash tray assembly from the centre dash?

GB Handle busted and ashtray won't shut.

2.2 Petrol CDX just been delivered and the dealer failed to mention those faults when asked.  Dropped keys in and contactless delivery.

Cheers

Omega General Help / Air injection pipe
« on: 08 April 2020, 12:41:48 »
Hello

When I change the timing belt on the V6, I did the test on the secondary air injection pipe as was shown in the video.

I could both blow and suck with ease.

What is it that I need to change?

Cheers in advance

Omega General Help / Cam set up
« on: 06 April 2020, 19:52:43 »
Hello (again) it's the Frank Spencer of motoring here again...

As the timing belt gracefully slipped, the cams are now out.

Is it just a case of resetting them to the marks (after removing belt again) then refitting the belt?

Grateful for any help.

Sorry for being a useless pain in the proverbial, I did used to be able to do this before I got this stupid incurable illness.
