Omega General Help / Timing belt issue

Sorry to post again but I’m having major issues changing the timing belt on my V6.

I have all the cams and crank lined up and locked and am following the video.

Problem is that the new belt doesn’t seem to fit.

I line the double line up with the crank mark and wedge it and work Up the cam 1 and 2 side, exactly as in the video.

The belt goes on cams 1 and 2 and the marks align, it goes around the idler and on to cams 3 and 4 but the lines are out and the belt just won’t go around the idler. I took it off and with the belt on the idler won’t go back in as the belt is too tight.

Anybody got any words of wisdom I can use?

The kit is for the car and the back plate with the tensioner on is the same code as the one that came off.

It’s doing my bloody head in!!

Omega General Help / Urgent help needed - aux belt tentioner bolt heads rounded

Hello all

I started doing the timing belt on my V6 this morning and when it came to removing the aux belt tensioner, I discovered that some halfwit has rounded the bottom torx bolt.

I have tried hitting the correct sized socket on but I can't get any purchase to both hold the socket in place and get a hit with the hammer.

Does anyone have any ideas how I can get this out?

Are there extractors?

Has anyone fitted a modern Android Unit and if so what's the best one?

Omega General Help / 2.5 V6 Coolant Transfer Pipe

Hi all

Can anyone advise me where I can get the coolant transfer pipe or the O seals for it from?

My local Vx dealer can't get either the pipe or the o seals for some reason (maybe out of production given the age of the car).

I found the part number on another thread (Part 90411629) but everywhere I try draws a blank.

I need them as the thermostat is playing up and don't want to do it until I know I have either the pipe or the seals at hand. I will do the timing belt, water pump and thermostat at the same time.

Hi All

I am preparing to tackle the timing belt, so have got a Conti tech kit and the V6 Locking kit as well as ordered the DVD from here.

Do I need to change the water pump as well on this car?

Omega General Help / Cruise Addition to 2000 2.5 CD

Hi All - Sorry for the new post on this but I am a bit lost.

I have just acquired a 2000(V) 2.5V6 CD Auto, and I would like to fit it with cruise control if possible. I have looked for the stalk but some are showing the cruise buttons on the indicator stalk and others on the wiper stalk.

Can someone tell me which is correct and whether I need anything else for the retrofit, such as an ECU, wiring loom or other such gizmo?

I have looked on my "My Naff Code Reader" and it does allow me to programme cruise control to be 'present' whereas now it says 'not present'.

Omega General Help / 2.5 V6 Engine running cool

Hello - My 2.5V6, only just got it, seems to be running very cool.

When I collected it, I had to drive through city traffic and it seemed normal at 90 ish on the gauge.

When I got onto the motorway though, it cooled down to between 70 and 75, heat was coming through the cabin but not a lot.

My thought would be the thermostat needs changed but is there anything else that could need to be looked at?

Newbie Welcome Area / Newbie looking for an Omega

Hi everyone

I have joined as I am looking to buy a Vauxhall Omega, it will be a "spare" car and will help keep the miles down on my main car. The truth is that me and my beloved Grandad always talked of these cars as we loved them, but he never got to get one through illness. Since he died, I have really struggled with it and so I decided to make it happen for both of us and buy one that I can treasure and use and look after.

There aren't many for sale so if anyone has one on here they are selling please let me know!

I am chasing one down at the moment though, a 2.5 V6, so hopefully I will bag it.

I am hoping that over time, I can give back more than I will initially take in advice and help!
