Clonking noise
« on: 25 September 2006, 15:19:33 »

Now having done the front droplinks I no longer get the knocking but have now found I am getting a nasty noise when the steering is on full lock to the right and when reversing off a curb only on one side though.

I dont make a habit of bumping up/down curbs so not sure whats caused this.

My first thoughts was the drivers side front wishbone checked for movement yesterday and the front seemed to have a litle play in it.

Would this be the cause?

Any further suggestions would be much appreciated.

What kind of 'noise'?  Is it a rubbing noise or a clonk as you drop off the kerb?

Yep wishbones.

The exact same thing happened to me. The noise from the wishbones was never noticeable until i changed the drop links. Changing the bushes or the complete wishbone should do the trick.  ;)

It was far more noticable while turning though, at speed.  ::)

Might see if the wishbones are still under warranty as I had them replaced at the beginning of last year I think although either way I may just replace them, got the black omega to do the same on as it was mentioned in the MOT so shall be getting the practise in doing them first, then onto my car.  :)
