I see Boris has ruffled the feathers of a few of his party again . A Tory peer has said he should be booted out of the party for his comments on the burka . . . . is Boris not entitled to his opinion then ?
I wonder what faith the moaning peer follows ? . . . . not too difficult to guess that one ::) ::)
-
For once Boris is spot on and echoes what many people think! :y :y
-
Yes Lizzie; it's a pity that more politicians don't say what they really think instead of what makes them look "good"! >:( >:( >:(

Sad truth is all political parties now rely on "ethnics" to survive , without the Asian vote the labour party would be dead in the water , which is why corbyn is bogged down in the anti Semitism row, he can't afford to be seen to support Israel or the Jewish community for fear of offending his
paki Asian powerbase e.g. sadiq khan and his cohorts , as our population becomes more "diverse" get used to the voice of ageing white working class voters being ignored by ALL parties , we're becoming increasingly irrelevant in our multicultural country , deal with it

Boris is frequently portrayed as some incompetent bumbling posh buffoon, certainly how he appears. A lot people dislike him purely based on his poshness.
Yes he went to Eton etc, but this also means that he is actually very well educated. I can't think of that much that he has ever said that I have really objected to, but he does suffer from foot-in-mouth syndrome. He served two terms as quite a popular Major of London without many or any really major cock-ups that I can recall. I'm sure that someone will come along soon to disagree . . .
Personally . . . . . . I'd quite like to see him in No 10 :o (runs & hides). He's no more bonkers than Corbyn, and a more clear thinker than May.
-

Yup, dreadful isn't it, "we" invited, paid for, coerced or in many cases forced "them" or their forebears to come here and then they choose to stay, and even to vote. The bloody cheek of some people ::)
I'm against all religion, almost equally, with Catholicism just edging it by a narrow margin. But I firmly believe the government or society has little place in telling me what I can and cannot wear. I also believe you should take all people on their merits, so by extension I also believe the government or society has little place in telling anyone else what they can and cannot wear.
-
He SHOULD have got the top job instead of May - we would have been out of Europe by now, on good terms, too.
To have somebody in No. 10 who is clued-up would be a refreshing change.
As Mayor, he did a lot of good things for London, including getting rid of Red Ken@s ridiculous and dangerous bendy buses, but I will never forgive him for handing over much of my paid-for road space in the Capital to cyclists! It has created much more of the congestion that he hoped to reduce.
If I speak to him nicely, when he becomes PM, could I be his Minister for Transport? Please?
Ron.

Been going that way for 30 years :(
I say the we should all invade some Muslim country, build Cristian churches everywhere, set up bacon sarnie shops everywhere, get pissed every day, the women all walk around in short skirts / tops and whine to the government of that country that they are all racist and its not fair when the locals kick off ::) >:(
How long before the indigenous people of that country come knocking on our doors with petrol bombs and machetes ?
All countries have there language, own ways and traditions and anybody who wants to settle there should either obey or respect those ways.
If they can't do that, they can f**k off imho ;)
And lets be honest here, those views are the same as the majority of this country but people are scared to be called a racist :(
As for Boris, boot out The Appeaser out and get him and Mogg in :y
-
TG, we are ALL racist - it's Nature's way. Think about it: when there is any kind of threat from outside, what do we do? We band together as a group and turn against the "aliens" and repel them. Why the F**k are we so afraid to use the term racist?
Ron.
-
They said the brexit referendum result was all about immigration.......didn't that give them a clue as to how we all think? ;D
Do they think we just meant Romanians, or Bulgarians or, even, the French? No....we meant everyone. Bugger off. ;D

Because the western world as a whole has become soft :(
We can't stand anybody not loving us and get upset so we all try to appease them by forcibly enforcing there ways, traditions and laws to suit our way of life >:(
Added to that the wests passion for invading Islamic countries in the name of Oil democracy which tends to piss the natives of those countries off greatly :(
I believe its payback on there part and deep down we know it but we haven't the gonads to do anything about it .............. :(
-
The irony of this is most of those getting all 'outraged' will be lefty libtard europhile remainer types. ::)
Boris categorically said in his article that he didn't want the burka banned in this country like it is in many other European countries. ;)
He just took the piss a bit that's all, and he's right, women in burkas do like like letter boxes! ;D

Thanks for your bendy buses >:( We got a load foisted on us... They proved so impractical* that the powers that be have bought fleet of new ones to replace them...
*obviously ignoring the fact that they need a third less driver's so they can get away with paying £10ph for anyone insane enough to drive them :-X

Dominic Grief has announced that he will leave the Conservative party if Boris Johnson becomes it's leader. :)
I'm sure that this news most welcome to most grassroots Tories and will only strengthen Boris's hand. ;)

Apology or No apology From Boris . . .
As I am not sure how to . . .can someone set up a poll may be interesting

What does he have to apologise for, Mr. Blue? Has he lied, or said anything to offend us? ???
Ron.

No but some of the pansy Tories , along with others are asking for one & consider he HAS been offensive as I have heard ::)
Tell em BOL*OCKS Boris . .. if they don't like it . . .they can FOXTROT OSCAR >:( >:( >:(
-
I don't think he said anything offensive at all,if that's what he'd wanted to be I'm sure he could have found a lot worse to describe them.Yes they should have to remove them when entering shops/banks/petrol stations etc just as people have to remove crash helmets or put the hood down on hoodies, they're not after all a religious garment, they're worn because of tradition or choice.

Boris Offends me EVERY Day....by continuing to steal Oxygen.

Boris is speaking for the people, most of us can’t say f#ck all about that topic for fear of getting locked up.

If they don't like it here, they know where the airport is. We won't miss them. :P

Labour MP Naz Shah has made an official complaint against Boris for his comments. This is the same woman who said that the girls who were abused in Rotherham "need to shut their mouths, for the sake of diversity.
Im nominating her for TB,s cull for the sake of human decency.
Anna Soubry (nutty Nora) attacked Boris for his comments yesterday. Five years ago when her fellow remainer Ken Clarke attacked the idea of women wearing Burkas she said she wished people wouldn't wear them and found the wearing of them a peculiar concept.
Im nominating her for the cull for her peculiarly rabid brand of hypocrisy.
Labour have expressed their total outrage at Boris comments, yet five years ago Emil Thornberry said "I wouldnt want my 4 year old looked after by someone wearing a burka and I wouldnt want my elderly Mum looked after by someone wearing a burka.
She is nominated for the cull, just for being Emily Thornberry.
Not much more than 10 years ago, this sketch was shown on the BBC and no one thought anything of it. Now no tv station would dare think about broadcasting it. This shows just how far we have gone down the wrong road.
Freedom of speech and thought is being eroded quickly in this country and its time we put a stop to it. Our tolerance is being abused, so we might need to be slightly less tolerant ?

There is one on ITV.com at the moment :y
I bet you cant guess which way its going ;D
Its about time we had more politicians who speak the mine of the people in this country imo :y
Fill yeh boots ;)

Just an aside as it has all already been said.
If Burkas were that good how come the men don't wear them too?
Oh and if you live in a hot country you do not wear black items of clothing as they become unbearably hot.

You do if your sole purpose is doing what you're told by the male half of the population :-X

Boris' burka comments are being investigated by the Met's Cressida Dick as a possible hate crime. :( Good to hear that there aren't more pressing crimes in London, like a murder rate higher than New York and also an epidemic of stabbings, acid attacks, moped based muggings and other gang and drug related offenses. >:( >:( >:(

I know that Jack Straw was somewhat less "direct" and more eloquent. However . . . .

The BBC are reporting that the Conservative party has received dozens of complaints about Boris! :o
Not hundreds, not thousands, not hundreds of thousands or millions of complaints. Dozens! That's 2 figures. ::)
The whole row is just pathetic! >:(
-
You might just be witnessing the self destruction of the Tory party. Boris might lead one half.
-
This is an attempt to destroy his career and future prospects, not only by Labour but the remoaners in the Tory party.
Since when did Dominic Grieve and Nutty Nora Soubry care about womens" right" to wear the Burka ?
They are a bunch of hypocrites, chancers and opportunists.
Despite the fact Im not a big fan of Boris, if they succeed it will be another huge nail in the coffin of freedom of speech in this country and another big step along the road to thought control, which leads to totalitarianism.
-

Conservative survival instincts suggests that this is unlikely. The few MP's threatening to leave the Conservative whip are those that are wetter than the River Thames and IMO good riddance to them. I also can't see there being much resistance the their deselection by their local Conservative association and it is very unlikely they would win as an independent candidate on merit.
The grass roots anger of the #chequers white flag paper may hit the parties finances where local associations are talking of withdrawing their £4m in loans to CCHQ.
-
Further to - I would argue that anyone who's religion (something very very personal that quite literally promises hell and eternal damnation if you don't abide by it's instruction) dictates to them you need to behave/do a certain thing, that that should be respected, as best as possible.
...However...
The burka/hijab etc is NOT religious doctrine, it is a cultural affectation, adopted by some, not all Muslims. It is no more 'necessary' than a Baseball cap for an American, or a beret and stripey shirt if you're French, or a crucifix round the neck if you're Christian. But people (and they may be Islamics, or white british lefty middle-class do-gooders thinking they're speaking for Muslims everywhere) are muddling the two, and using it to gain ground for their agenda.
-
The Burka is a result of a particularly militant version of Islam. The same Saudi version which gave us 9/11 and pays for the construction of Mosques all across the West.
Personally, Im all for banning it. There is no such thing as multiculturalism. Just dilution / removal of the indigenous culture. We have gone too far down that road already.
-
IMO Religion is about:
1. Money (saving souls is expensive, where you need all those expensive, impressive, buildings, robes and icons and well paid, versed and skilled practitioners of the art of their mumbo, jumbo). :(
2. Power. :(
3. Brainwashing (recruitment them young for lifelong participation and obedience). :(
All the different brands want more of it, hence the constant empire building, recruitment and wars. The ultimate recruitment tool is to kill those that won't support your brand. >:(
You don't have to belong to or support any of the big or small religious brands to believe in God or to know the difference between right and wrong or good and evil and to know which of the right ones of those to practice daily in your life. :y
-
Exactly, excellent couple of posts.

Ban it .
It's a symbol of repression ,control and domination conducted and blindly accepted by a culture that belongs in the middle ages.
There , I said it .

Nothing new about that theory, I mean statement of truth, Don. I am just totally gobsmacked that supposedly intelligent people subscribe to the whole implausible story, to the point of actually killing each other over it. The mind truly boggles.

Rowan Atkinson in the Boris & The Burqa issue
"All jokes about religion cause offence, so it's pointless apologising for them. You should really only apologise for a bad joke. On that basis, no apology is required."

I do like Rowan... ;D ;D ;D
