Title: '62 BMW F30 330d EML on...
Post by: Doctor Gollum on 05 February 2018, 17:30:34
As above, no smoke, no loss of performance and economy pretty consistent at 44-46 mpg over last 65k. Now on 106k, full BMWSH.

Has following two codes:

290900 Air system: air to EGR air mass flow, plausibility measured air mass compared with calculated air mass too high.

24CE00 Hot film air mass meter: ratio of calculated to measured air mass too high.

Apart from EML, car runs fine, plenty of power on demand, no obvious air leaks, idle is rock steady and no hesitation under load.

No live data as code reader cannot access it. No other codes present.

Any thoughts?

Its telling you there is a difference between the quantity of air weighed as going in by the MAF and that which the engine would consume for a given RPM and manifold pressure.

I cant see swirl flaps causing that as they don't result in a differential of that type.

An inlet air leak (split intercooler, split pipe, dirty EGR) would be my first port of call

Pipes all intact with no obvious air leaks, so will suggest cleaning the EGR as a starting point...
