General Discussion Area / Tech2, first weekend of December?
« on: 15 November 2007, 23:26:17 »
 Ey up

Got my car booked into WIM Hemel Hempstead on the 1st December. While I'm pootling about down South, I was wondering if anyone fancied meeting me to do a couple of daft jobs - first the airbag light (finally) - and a thermostat change?
I've got the whole Saturday-Monday off, so I can travel... anywhere, really. I might be in Plymouth at one point, and also Gloucestershire... :y

OK, Rimswell shops, silver 2.2 DTi facelift, about half two this afternoon.

Last night, about 10pm, Tesco's in Stockton, close to the main doors - silver facelift saloon.

Parked on one of the corners on Harlsey Road, Hartburn, silver (again) facelift saloon, IIRC about a Y-plate.

And parked on Bishopton Rd West regularly, black pre-facelift, think it's an Elite, has a towbar and IIRC an AA badge on the grille.

General Discussion Area / Cost of a respray?
« on: 14 November 2007, 11:22:05 »
Ey up

Now, come the summer, I'll hopefully have saved enough pennies for a respray. I'm after the works - bare metal, then a nice sheen of black (which black, I'm not sure yet, but that's another topic). Now, there's a fair few stonechips on the bonnet, wingmirrors are scraped (previous owner obviously had his own ideas when it came to folding the mirrors in...), and there's a couple of chips on the sides. I'd imagine these will come out with the respray process.
Of more concern is the bootlid - it's obviously had something hit it from above, and the owner's just got two blobs of silver Dulux and blobbed it in with a brush. Also, there's a couple of bubbles under the paint on the rear doors. Don't think it'll be too much work, but it's just a smidgen more than a regular respray.
I have previous experience of a local bodyshop who were brilliant (mum's car got modified by an errant Citroen driver, they brought it back to brand new, and valeted the whole thing too.) - I'm just looking for a rough estimate of exactly how many parmos I'm going to have to cut back on...

Thought this might be of interest to some of you, maybe not. It's quite close to me, so if anyone wanted it picking up and delivering when I go south at some point, the offer's there. :y

General Discussion Area / Writing a how-to - advice

I'm writing a how-to for the HBV removal (I didn't swap it myself... ssssh) - there's about eight pictures, quite large - do you want them putting in-line with the [img] tags, or linking to separately? I'm thinking of load time for the page, is all...

Went to the big H for a couple of bits, ended up spending £100 on the infamous socket set, £50 off at the moment. Well worth the money. :y

General Discussion Area / Got one!
« on: 06 October 2007, 17:14:30 »
After a couple of well-laid plans going to waste, I've got myself the perfect car. 2.6 MV6, on an 02 plate, full VX service history... about 72k on the clock (so cambelt kit is first priority). Silver, got everything except leather interior, which bothers me not one iota...
Going to pick it up later in the week, once he's put new tyres, and a couple of niggly bits right... and cleaned it of course.

Expect a lot of questions from me, after I've dug thorugh the existing topics of course.

General Discussion Area / NorthEast VX specialists?
« on: 06 October 2007, 17:18:33 »
This will be the first of many, I apologise...

Anyone recommend a decent VX specialist, or a garage thats good with V6 Omegas...? I'm based on Teesside, so anywhere from County Durham, to North Yorkshire, and anywhere in between would be ideal. :)

General Discussion Area / Red Omegas

 Ey up

Think this is only my second post, I've been lurking quite a bit.

I'm hunting down a nice V6 Omega... one for sale is described as "red" and there's no pictures. It's an Mv6, quite a late model I think. Now... is this going to be in a solid (I'm thinking... Corsa Flame Red) or metallic (that hotrod candy-apple colour)? I don't recall seeing one of either...
Also, am I right in thinking that true MV6s are top-spec models, while plod MV6s were high HP etc, but lower=specced interior?

 Regards
Pete
