Tried it on my 2.6 (manual, 02 plate). Now, the EML is on for me, as I posted in my other topic.

Followed that sequence, and the light flashed out 10-4-3-10... then stayed off (for more than ten seconds)... and illuminated constantly when I lifted off the pedals. HTH

Would be interesting to try on a 2.2.....

Tried in a 2.2 Omega & Vectra....

Nothing :(

Should there be a start of codes display?

Failing that, whats the easiest way to generate a fault ;)

If there's no faults, I think the light flashes constantly.

Try

Put your foot flat to the floor on the accelerator and your foot on the brake.

Now turn the ignition on (dont start the engine) and read the number of flashes on the ecu light.....

....might not work but, worth a try.

:D Cheers anyway... did it and showed up as pre-cat problem. :y

 Ey up

Driving along last night, sitting at 30mph in 4th, my EML illuminated. There's no sounds or vibration, no trouble starting or idling, no increase in fuel consumption... I'm wondering if its purely the sudden change in weather (my old Corsa would put the light on any time the weather was warm and I'd been out for a hoon...)

The spring is possibly (and I can't stress that enough, I'm awaiting someone who knows ;) ) one that attaches to the backplate. Possibly. (It's 3am and my mind isn't firing on all six...)

if you have nimble hands, you can pull amd manouver out the 2 or 4 lead without removing any plastic toss ;)

*looks at hands roughly the size of dinner plates*

I'm out of practice on the old engine fiddling, don't want to risk breaking something vital, so it'll wait til I see my friendly local mechanic tomorrow. Definitely an oil leak from the top of the engine, though I'm not sure why that would make it feel like a radiator... cheers James and Debs. :y

Right. Had a nosey, looked at the amount of plastic toss that's got to come off to get in to the plugs, thought "stuff that for a game of toy soldiers"... stuck my head down the back, there's traces of oil over the exhaust heatshield and surrounding area on the nearside bank, and a much smaller amount on the offside bank.
Is this what you'd expect if it was the CC gaskets?

Further interrogation of the aforementioned mother suggests that you can feel the heat from the nearside, as well as the "hot smell"...?

Omega General Help / "Hot" smell from front nearside?
« on: 06 March 2008, 15:02:05 »
 How do

After a run out, my mum reckoned there was a "hot" smell coming from the nearside front of the car - I can't identify it further, my sense of smell is abysmal.
There's no leaks onto the floor, so any ideas chaps?

A main dealer would no doubt charge a fortune so if you can do it yourself you'd get a better result at cheaper cost.

Think it's quoted at or around 2 hours labour... £75-85/hour?

Am I right in thinking you could go to VX for a new screen and head unit, but they'd want £1000+ - or have they stopped doing them now?
